No, it would make your becoming a VFF at that station impossible. You could still become a VFF.
Nonsense.
Did you miss the part about health?
I don't live 6 minutes from a station, should I move? I'm self employed and work all over, should I volunteer at the nearest station every time I bid on a new contract, or just bid on contracts within 6 minutes of a station?
Here's another, more comprehensive list of requirements...
1. You must provide accurate, complete and signed application and test registration forms by the stipulated deadline. You must provide the necessary documentation to support your qualifications.
2.
You must submit a clear Police Clearance Vulnerable Sector Search, free of any convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, obtained at your own expense from Hamilton Police Services, upon receiving a conditional offer of employment.
3. You must have a valid driver’s licence in good standing with less than seven (7) demerit points. Hamilton Emergency Services - Fire (HES - Fire) will obtain the abstract.
4. You must successfully pass a written aptitude test and a physical agility test.
5. You must successfully pass an interview process.
6. You must provide three (3) positive references.
7.
You must successfully complete the required medical evaluation by a physician designated by HES - Fire.
8. You must successfully complete the recruit training program.
9. You must agree to certain employment conditions in order to be employed, and to remain employed, as a Volunteer Firefighter.
Those two there, would preclude me. No special status for me than.
