I dont know what all the fuss is about, most weekenders who live in the mountains do more damage to the environment then any pipeline ever will. The same go's for farmers, they dont even need a permit to do a ground disturbance.
The energy industry is probably the most compliant when it comes to the environment.

Rail already has the environmental green light to move whatever the hell they want. I doubt greenie weenies want that.

I think it was a train that dumped a bunch of oil into the Pine River near Chetwynd a couple of years ago!

Damned if we do and worse if we don't. Our own refineries would be logical but the anti and nimby groups who refuse to acknowledge their need for the product and associated commerce are whistling through the graveyard.
Big oil's agenda is their's alone, as is China's.

Inserting phrases like "great bear rainforest" and "first nations" nearly guarantees game over regardless of validity. Kind of like the last US election, different buzz words, same outcome. "where's ma free chit"?

Where I'm at right now it's crazy, the oil is pumped into tanks and hauled by truck to the refineries untill it can be tied into a pipeline, this sometimes only takes a week, there is no way we could even build enough refineries or staff them to clean all our oil.
Theres batteries and refineries all over the place as it is now.
