I still did Air Cadets. With CFB Moose Jaw nice and handy it was a lot of fun, educational and a chance to get in the air.My brother has the same thing. He wanted to be a fighter pilot. Couldn't do it.

but at least he never sympathized with Nazi's.
or refused to fight in the second world war.
or embraced a separate Quebec.
Like all guys, he wore a Nazi Helmet on the end of his dick.Nope he wasn't, but I'm pretty sure there are still Nazi sympathizers. Haven't seen even young Harper don a Nazi Helmet and ride his motorcycle in downtown Ottawa.
Serving in Gulf War. Other than those who served at the time. Going to Gulf War One wasn't as easy as it sounds by the way. I was in the CF at the time, (Combat Arms) ready and willing.
Instead we sent sailors, pilots and cooks.
Everyone believes weird things while a teenager. I think he more than made up for that while PM. It was Harper who recognized Quebec as a "distinct society" which is something Trudeau would have never done.
Stigmatism.
Funny. I did the colour blindness exam twice. It was the one with all the cards with a jumbled mess
of coloured spots. You had to find a number or a letter among the spots. I was sure I had failed because
I just guessed on a lot of them. Apparently I passed with room to spare.
They were only flying props back then so testing wasn't as stringent. ;-)Slow day for new pilots..![]()
He wasn't alone in the 1930s when it comes to that. Pretty much everyone in the west seemed to like or be ok with Hitler except Churchill at the time.
Again IrrelevantAgain, he wasn't alone in that. Most of Quebec again wasn't interested in taking part in a war in Europe. A fair number in the rest of Canada too otherwise they wouldn't have had to re-introduce conscription.
Now this is relevant and I'll tell you why. First of all, my point about Trudeau's sordid past is that he get's a free ride and treated as though he was some kind of saint. Newsflash, he wasn't. He was no more a than JFK who is often revered in the same light while the press and most left wingers overlook that he was a womanizing, backstabbing politician who used people. In one case he almost got Frank Sinatra whacked after they lined up the Unions to get him elected then Bobby went after the Mob and of course Sinatra was shut out by the Kennedy's.Everyone believes weird things while a teenager. Your patriotism sounds almost American in fervor.
We all see history through the filters of our own bias. If you had lived in Quebec during the 60s you would have been aware of how the French were treated up to the point where they got pissed off enough to demand some equality. The separatist movement was galvanized long before Meech Lake. Trudeau tried to scare the Pepsis back into line with martial law during the October Crisis but that backfired. They elected the PQ as an F you to Trudeau and English Canada. I know, I was there. I was born in Montreal in 46 of British parents. I grew up thinking the French were sub-species of the human race. I didn't realize they were fully human until I started working with them in 64. Then I was as pissed of as they were for having been lied to.
My sense of social justice was born then. I can fully understand their resistance to assimilation but the old guard is dying off and soon that past will have been forgotten. Then we will see an end to separatism. Until then, the lack of understanding from the rest of Canadians will continue to fuel the animosity.

You bet they were a factor.I suppose that Duplesis and the Catholic Church were just great back then.
