Do Catholic Universities violate Muslims' 'human rights'?

They absolutely have the right to put up Crosses and whatever else they choose. It is a private school.
I did a little research and I believe you are quite right. It seems it is a private school. But - that said - if they are accepting money from students of various religions I think they cannot expect those students to not have a place to worship unless the student signs a waiver stating they understand that is the way the school operates and that they accept those conditions as a part of attending that school. I gather no one is suggesting they cannot worship in their own religion, just that they must do it in a room filled with all Catholic items of worship.
I just don't get why a person wants to go to a "Catholic" college if they are concerned with the fact that it is one. There are Colleges everywhere. Choose one that suits all your personal needs.

It's a Catholic University. They knew that when they applied and paid their tuition. It's not like they paid, signed up for classes, came the first day and went "Holy **** batman, this is a frickin Catholic School". So, suck it up buttercup, or go to a different University.

Northern Ontario,
I briefly attended The Catholic University of America.

It wouldn't be that hard for them to accommodate Muslims. And they wouldn't even have to have all this controversy, or a self-righteous Fox News report about them.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which is on campus, kinda looks like a mosque.

Why do liberals (progressives) always feel the need to accomodate muslims even when they don't even ask for it.

None of the students asked for anything and that law suit was started by John F. Banzhaf on his own but IMO probably backed by C.A.I.R.

I know you think CAIR is some evil organization or something, and that's funny. But sure, I'm all for accommodating the second largest religion at my alma mater, especially if Muslim students ask for it. I would encourage it in fact just based upon the fact it is a major religion.

The students did not ask for anything!!!!
I saw an intervier ask Banzhaf that question several times last night...
He danced around it but never said that any students ask for any special concession.

Not sure if that is a meaningful point or not. A major university like that should acknowledge Islam. The proper response, in my mind, is not to think up excuses for why there should not be, like, a Muslim Association, but rather something like, "Oh, we don't have one of those? Maybe we should see if that's something our campus should do."

CU has not acknowledged Islam?

CU has not acknowledged Islam?

Not enough to have a Muslim Association apparently, or prayer rooms or something.

Really?

Tell me why I shouldn't laugh at that.

Because it's not really a discussion about who's bringing a complaint with the city. Rather, it's about whether CUA has the resources and need to have a Muslim Association, prayer rooms, etc.

So you admit to a less than limited understanding of what the issue is.

That explains so much.

No, the author of the complaint is pertinent.

1, He is speaking on behalf of people who have not filed a complaint.
2, The issue he brought forth, is erroneous.
3, There are no other non Catholic prayer groups. At CUA.
4, By bringing forward this action, he paints the Muslim students in a bad light.

.

Why should CU have to create a Muslim Association on their own? If they did that then shouldn't they have to create a Pagan one? Wicca? Budism? Kilingon?

It's only fair.

You're the one who's talking about the complaint with the city. I'm talking about on campus, and what the campus should and should not have.

Wow. I'm actually talking about practical things about the kinds of student clubs CUA has or doesn't have, guy.
Speaking of weak.

Make sure you ignore what the complaint details, and what other associations actually exist at the School. So you seem to be enlightened, or something...

Yes, I am fully aware of your goalpost moving.
