What has absolutely blown me away is how some doctor has prescribed creative pills to Chapdelaine's offense. Jacques has always had the most boring schemes. Now the Lions are running the fake double reverse like it's just another call and fairly ho hum to execute. I wonder if Jarious Jackson might be acting more as a coach and playbook developer than a player these days because some of the run and play action looks like a Notre Dame offense.

whatever it is, keep it comin.

Montreal at Edmonton - Pregame show starts at 5:30 PST on TSN.

Hoping to see Rickie Ray keep the Eskimo drive alive and push the Als further down the ladder in the East.

Saturday will see the Lions in Sask for a game with the Riders. Both these teams have come a long way since early this season. The Lions have beefed up both their offense and defence and are now in possession of five straight wins. The Riders have finally managed to show that they too might have a chance at a berth in the play-offs with three straight wins including back-to-back defeats of the Bombers.

Second game of Saturday's double-header will see the Blue Bombers in Toronto to take on the struggling Argos. A loss by the latter could very spell the end of any hopes for a comeback this year.

To finish the week, the Calgary Stampeders and Hamilton Ti-Cats are traveling to Moncton for the CFL's Touchdown Atlantic game. This is the second time in as many years that the CFL has hosted a game in NB. Judging by the crowds last year and the expected turn out this year, East Coast fans are more than ready for a team of their own. For the teams, the big question will be which QB will show up to play as both Burris and Glenn have had their problems of late.

Depending on the outcome of the games, standings in the CFL could change quickly this weekend.

GO, RIDERS, GO!

certainly don't want to gloat, that would be tacky, but i'm feeling pretty good right now, lions are finally back to 500, their season so far has been two season, one very dismal, the other fantastic.

mowich, hope your team plays better next game.

I have to admit I was pretty disappointed in the Eskimo offence last night: they waited way too long to establish their running game, and then it was too late. That hit on Calvillo, was incredible: it was a clean hit, pretty much unblocked... I'm not surprised it took him out of the game, but rather surprised he was looking as coherent on the bench as he was later. The turning point was definately the pick thrown by Ray on the next play: what a way to take the wind out of a team's sails: you get a monster sack and turnover, then your QB gives it right back. Have to give the Als secondary their due and their back up QB: he looked really good, using his legs to break containment and buy time for his receivers to get open.

Things are getting pretty interesting. In the last month the Lions have played on the road in Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatchewan and they've laid a beatin' on all of them. Wally must've read the riot act to the coaching staff because they are looking very prepared from the get go, unlike earlier in the year when they looked half asleep until it it was too late. Chapdelaine sure ripped a strip off the receivers on that one play. He's looking pretty demanding. And they aren't taking those dumb penalties.

Saskatchewan took way too many penalties, many at the worst times. Just when they got some field position the special teams guys (d-back) takes 2 major penalties (30 yards) and gets ejected. Lots of offsides that gave Lions automatic first downs. Also the bad snap turning into a big turnover. Ryan Phillips continues to feed on Durant interceptions.

I didn't see the Eskies/Als game. Never sure which Eskimo team will show up. They look unbeatable one game and the exact opposite the next.

Saw the hilites of Argos/Bombers. I see Buck went out again. I just can't see him lasting an entire year. The Argos interception return for a TD was quite a team effort.

I wouldn't blame you a bit if you did gloat, talloola..........your team was outstanding against the Riders who didn't even show up for the game. I don't know who that bunch of fellows dressed in green were. The only ones I recognized were Weston, Brandon West, Dalllas Baker, Chris Getzlaf- when a pass was actually thrown his way, and the ever favorite Jason Clermont. At least those guys never gave up. As for the defence - they all stayed at home or should have what with the truly bad penalties they took. Don't know what's up with Nick Graham - he got a game ejection and Romero was not much better.

Won't take a thing away from the Lions - they had their game plan and played it to perfection. Good on the Lions. I am happy for you talloola.

The highlight Eskimo play for me was the 72-yard punt return for TD by Jason Armstead - outstanding. The Eskimos had ball handling problems during the game. That play by Rickie were he looked to be surrounded by defenders, got away, fumbled the ball, dropped the ball, then picked it back up for a short gain was almost comical.

Didn't know what would happen when McPherson came in for Anthony - should have know it would be business as usual for the team. Nice for the Als to know that Tony can be taken out and Adrienne has the ability to step right up and keep the momentum going.

Ryan Phillips is truly Darian's worst nightmare. He, Darian, was looking right at Phillips when he threw that interception right into his hands - you could see it on the replays. He should have been looking at his primary receiver. Darian was totally off yesterday - had receivers open and he just couldn't get the ball to them. The defence looked like a bunch of grade school kids out there and not such nice ones either. Was really surprised by the level of nastiness - that just isn't the way Ken Miller coaches and I can just imagine how disappointed he was in his team yesterday. We pretty well needed a win every time out in order to get a chance at the play-offs - after that dismal effort, I just don't see it happening this year.

For sheer entertainment purposes, the Atlantic Touchdown game had it in spades. Along with 5 different QBs getting a chance in the game, there were three first time TDs by Rempel, January, and that unbelievable fumble, recovery, lateral pass to McCullough and then his run for the end zone. Turn-overs also seemed to be the order of the day - there were something like nine on the day. It seemed like every time a team would recover a ball they would turn it over on the next play - it was really hilarious if you weren't a supporter of either team.

I think that the refs really messed up on two calls - the one on Green in the end zone which never should have been an interference call and the whistle in the crowd call that gave Prefontaine another chance at the F.G. which he flubbed again. I don't blame LaPolice for being upset - replays of both calls showed that the refs got it wrong, IMHO.

The Argos just squeaked by with a win but with Steven Jyles now at the helm, they at least have a QB with legs and a good arm.

Hamilton took it to Calgary today. It puts Hamilton at 6-6 and more difficult to catch in a playoff crossover. Saskatchewan must pass (not tie) BC or Hamilton to make the playoffs. They are two games behind both so they essentially need to win 3 more than either in the last 6. That's a difficult task but not entirely impossible. Things in this league can change quickly. It puts Calgary at 7-5. BC is just one game behind Edmonton and Calgary. Top spot is still up for grabs.

It is going to be a very interesting final stretch of 6 games.

Travis Lulay is looking damn good.

No love lost between Messam and his old team mates.

Unfortunatly I believe Saskatchewan is all but dead. I do not believe they have beaten 1 west division team yet. Pretty hard to secure a playoff spot that way.

I think Hamilton is three wins ahead of the Riders, and to get a crossover the crossing team has to have a better record. Doesn't look too promising in either division, but stranger things have happened (ie the 2011 Lions).

Helluva game last night between the Stamps and Lions. Old man McCallum set the CFL consecutive f/g record at 30 before missing one. On the last play of the game he connected on a 53-yarder to win.

Calgary was almost unstoppable on kick returns. They are always tough at BC Place.

It looked a preview of the West Final. Too close to call between these teams.

Thanksgiving weekend was indeed one of gratitude for fans of Anthony Calvillo and Paul McCallum. The former set an all-time passing record becoming the most productive QB in the history of football. I can't think of anyone more worthy of the title than Anthony who embodies all that is great and good in the CFL. A man who is 'definitely comfortable in his own skin', his first words were of his wife and daughters whose support aided him in this prestigious milestone. Many congratulations, Anthony.

"The Montreal Alouettes quarterback broke Damon Allen's all-time CFL record of 72,381 passing yards with a 50-yard TD pass to Jamel Richardson on the final play of the third quarter against the Toronto Argonauts."

"Former NFL stars Dan Marino and Warren Moon – who began his career with the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos – Allen and football announcer Chris Berman all offered video tributes to Calvillo, in his 18th CFL season, which were broadcast into Molson Stadium for all to hear."

"Added Moon, who was football's all-time leading passer before being bypassed by Allen: “I want to give you a special congratulations on being the total yards passing leader in the history of professional football."

"It marks the third time this season Calvillo has broken one of Allen's career marks, the previous two also coming against the Argos.

On July 17, Calvillo threw two TD passes in a 40-17 home win over Toronto to break Allen's all-time record of 394.

Then on Aug. 4 in a 36-23 defeat of Toronto at Rogers Centre, Calvillo registered his 5,159th completion to surpass Allen in that category as well.

But Allen's passing yards record is the most prestigious of the three and Calvillo made it his own in his 300th career CFL appearance."

Yet another record was set in the CFL this weekend as BC ensured itself a share of the first place spot in the West. Mr Paul McCallum was chasing a field goal record for the most consecutive field goals in a single season. He managed to attain then surpass the previous record of Dave Ridgeway. After setting a new high, Paul missed an easy shot from 20 yards out which left many of us scratching our heads and ending his streak. However, if one is to redeem themselves, it could be in no better fashion then how Paul did so by kicking a beaut from 53 yards out to seal the win for the Lions. Good on you Paul.

VANCOUVER -- B.C. Lions placekicker Paul McCallum has set a CFL record.

McCallum kicked his 29th consecutive field goal of the season at 13:34 of the third quarter Saturday night in the Lions' game against the Calgary Stampeders.

The 46-yard field goals breaks the record of 28 set by Dave Ridgway of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1993. The kick drew a standing ovation from the crowd at B.C. Place Stadium.

McCallum tied the record in the second quarter with a 47-yard field goal.

He added a 30th straight field goal in the fourth quarter.

The 41-year-old McCallum already holds the CFL record for the longest field goal. He made a 62-yard kick against the Edmonton Eskimos on Oct. 27, 2001, when he played for Saskatchewan.

The Lions mailed in the effort. Looked like they partied in Regina last night but found a way to win.

The reffing in the Hamilton-Montreal game was joke near the end. Three plays in a row blown by the refs. First, Hamilton throws a touchdown pass but is ruled incomplete, and since they don't have a challenge flag to throw the blown call stands. The next play the left Montreal defensive end is clearly in the neutral zone before the snap. It's not called. During the play there is a pic and Montreal gets possession. On the next play a Hamilton defensive back is called for interference when in fact the Montreal receiver ran right over him.

A couple of weeks ago a line judge was fired for a bad call. The whole crew in this game should be let go for that series of bad calls.

Could not agree with you more, Kreskin. That TD for sure was a game breaker for the Ti-Cats - darn those refs. It also helped to illustrate the importance of coaches using their challenges wisely. I've always thought that the second half to the last quarter is the time to start thinking about throwing the flag - unless it is a slam dunk as seen on replay. Had Marcel kept one challenge for the last quarter the Ti-Cats would be celebrating today instead of being choked at the bad calls.

The Ti-Cats were robbed of the win by truly egregious reffing.

Also have to mention how impressed I was by Brandon Whittaker's tip-toe down the sidelines to the end zone for the TD. Now that is keeping your focus and going the extra yard. Good on Brandon.

I was surprised there were no turnovers the entire game.

I wasn't exactly holding my breath, but I was aware of where Ryan Phillips - Darian's nemesis on the Lion's team was on the field. Glad for Darian that though he came close he didn't actually throw a ball to Ryan this time around.

Well that's it for the Riders this year though I would not be surprised to see them come back and win one or two of their final games now that the pressure is off.

It wasn't a great year of football for my team but I still want to thank them for the individual efforts I saw during the season and like the many fans in Sask will be ready to cheer them on again next year. Thank you Riders.
