Approx 20 % of the population suffers a mental illness at on point in their life
More like over 50%,maybe higher but remember, the majority of people wont ask for help, but the amount of folks on anti deppresants keeps rising, most here would be surprised if they knew how many of their family were on them.

Ask you doctor if "smartening the **** up and eating properly" is right for you.

Some side effects may include: weightloss, clear thinking, easy bowel movemnts, low cholesterol, improved sexuality, improved sleep, reduced body odour, increased muscle tone, improved eyesight and a sharp increase in the immune system.

Exactly, diet is very important but I think todays lifestyle and pace are too much for most people. There's physical and mental health and you cant allways control what chemicals your brains putting out,a traumatic event in someones life can trigger all sorts of mental health issues including major depression.
I dont think anyone who commits suicide is a coward,if nothing makes you happy anymore to the point that you will take your own life then that person has been through hell for a long time and fought it 24/7.
Suicide is just a way of saying **** it,enough pain,im gone.

You know I can't count on both hands how many guys I have known in my 46 years who have taken their own life. In fact I know a thing or two about depression as I went through a very severe bout of it after being medically released from the military in 1998. After leaving the military and getting my own head back on straight I championed the rights of soldiers suffering from PTSD and even landed on CBC talking about the despicable way soldiers were treated by our government. Back then PTSD wasn't even recognized.

Do head shots cause depression? Beats me, but what I find somewhat amusing is that I haven't seen a single thread here on CC calling to outlaw boxing or worse that bloodsport they call UFC. Instead what I hear is bunch of complaining about Don Cherry, an old hockey player and coach who is paid handsomely to shoot his mouth off for ten minutes a game by the CBC.

So while I am very sorry that a young player took his own life, perhaps maybe some of you should head over to the Insite thread and complain about those who think that all drugs should be legal. Or send a letter to Dana White (President of UFC) and demand that they stop putting young men in rings and pounding their ears into cauliflower and brains into mush.

This calling for Cherry's resignation is kind of like gun control.

It's zeroing in on the safe target while avoiding the real issue.

well, one could say the same thing about cherry, aiming at a target while avoiding the real issue, and
continueing on with his same old rants, hollering and shouting thru our tvs like a little child with a
mans voice. All of us could never depend on him to help improve the head shots and head injuries in the NHL,
it would cut into his profits of 'rockem sockem' videos, as many of those hits would 'now' be illegal.

The NHL is addressing the 'issue', it is happening as we all rant about how it isn't happening.

The changes are in place, the suspensions are taking place, and it is obvious to anyone watching the game,
how the players are trying to make the adjustment, which will take a while, just like it took a while to
change the last group of rule changes.

Don Cherry is not an advocate for players, he's an entertainer paid by the CBC draw ratings and he does that quite well.

The NHL is addressing the 'issue', it is happening as we all rant about how it isn't happening.

That's good, it's their job not Don Cherry's or the CBC's.

Again, I have no issue with that.

The only issue I have is jumping back and forth between threads about the same topic.

Mods, if you please.

I will add my name to that request since I'm the thread starter......or not for the following reason!

But while they are doing that, they should investigate who "Imacpherson" is lmacpherson's Profile...since at the time "Time to fire Don Cherry" thread had been dead in the water since May 17th, and 15 or 20 minutes after I had posted this one.
This poster shows up witha single post in the other thread and was never seen again.
His opinions on fighting in hockey are idiotic. It's time he be fired.

Coincidence??? Don't think so.....Who would have an interest in resurecting the other one???? I have suspects in mind ....but.....?
This thread seems to have given the other one a boost;-)

If you discover the source of the revival of the original thread please let me know, because I posted in that original thread so long ago. Before I had the presence of mind to not get email notification for every single update to a subscribed thread. My blackberry was driving me nuts yesterday!

Couldn't you get into "settings" with your Blackberry to switch of the alerts?

I've turned it off now.

It just annoyed the hell out of me yesterday and I was just looking for a little payback is all. Lol.

Damn! I spoke too soon, there goes the blackberry again, and again. And yet again.

I have the "no email notification" setting selected in my settings.

It's gonna be a long day.

Its not the blackberry which needs setting. You need to go to your subscribed threads under CC settings and turn off notification on each one. Even if you change the global setting that only affects threads going forward. You need to go back and change all your subscribed to no notification.

Thank you.

Done.

For some really weird reason that thread, and only that thread, was set for instant notification, instead of daily like I had originally opted for. I must have been playing around in settings before I posted there I guess.

I have found these settings sometimes react poorly to scroll wheels on mice. Goota always double check and avoid the wheel when filling out any form in the browser. Not sure why they code pull down choices to react to the scroll wheel.

There is only one thread that I've ever subscribed to....and it's Sid's Life and Times in another forum...but I haven't heard from him in two years....

You're not kidding.

Like the time the corporate tax program I use at work scrolled back up to Cambodia when I had selected Canada inputing the address?

And yes, it did get filed that way.

And yes, it did get questioned by CRA and I did have to correct it.

Honestly, I really don't screw up that often, but when I do.....
