Ah, well there you go. Just like all the oil companies do. Some product will be sold domestically and some internationally.
For now the cheapest to refine, light sweet crude will continue to be used for domestic use. Heavy oil makes for lovely diesel and jet fuel though.

I am happy that we are buying Candian oil. I'm sort of surprised that some Canadians aren't as much.

Some are saying it's much wiser to use that petrol to develop value added resources first, instead of just shipping oil to another country. It also has a detrimental effect on jobs.

And then there is a legitimate environmental concern for both countries as well.

Lastly, it prolongs our dependency on a non-renewable resource - the major use of which is to drive cars - and we already have a viable alternative for that.

I think most of us are, it's just we would like to get some value added as well. They've been closing refineries in Que. and I believe one farther East..................seems like a bassakwards way of going about things.

You know more than I about this biz... but I do know we use a lot of diesel and jet fuel.

ships and trucks and rail a viable alternative if the pipeline was nixed?
nimby and it's not cheap.

See my post about trying to pump finished product over distance.

There is something some need to know to understand how things work. You can't pipe finished gasoline or diesel over long distances at high speed. Friction and compression of fuels tend to make things go BOOM. Think diesel engine.
Does that help flossy?

I was referring to physical products like plastics, not refined oil. At least that's the gist from what I understood of the article.

We need more plastic? CCRL already refines finer than any other in Nor Am. Everything from paint to pills comes out of that puppy.
