From what I know, Perry is like other 'uneducated ignoramuses' like Martin Luther King Jr. and many others in that he subscribes to a version of 'Intelligent Design'.

More of a compromise than a hard-liner like some.

To each their own.

Yeah....I love the arrogance of those who bow to the Great God science.........all others are beneath contempt.

It is hilarious.

The man that more than any other brought social justice to the United States:

Martin Luther King

A Baptist preacher.

The man more than any other that is the icon of the social justice movement in Canada:

Tommy Douglas

A Baptist preacher.

Despite my right-wing leanings, I prefer my preachers to be slightly to the left of centre.... :)

MLK was a full blown Commie and and then you have Tommy the Commie.

No wonder you're one very confused fella.

What is both arrogant and hilarious is when people who don't understand science comment confidently, but with sheer ignorance, about the validity and strength of the knowledge that exists out there. That is contemptible.

It's not a god, it's a system. It's by a very wide margin the best system we have for discovering the causal mechanisms of our universe, including the variation of life.

Well I am not being offensive. I would hardly call that politically correct.

If he is a good President or better yet a good man what do you care what he believes? If he does not believe in evolution, so what.

If he doesn't accept facts when making decisions about his beliefs or policies he will be a horrible president. If his answer to a drought is literally to "pray for rain", he is not fit to run anything.

So, Martin Luther King was not fit to be the leader of the Civil Rights Movement?

Leading a civil rights movement is not leading a country. Also, I imagine most of his followers would have had some problems with him if at the time they had known of his philandering ways. That type of thing tends to make preachers look bad.

Are/were all great leaders of the world non-religious?

I imagined that you were saying that if one prays... they would not be fit to lead anything. Or are you just saying that if a guy prays for rain he would not be able to lead anything?

Perry seems to have been watching old Ronald Reagan political speeches, or more exactly those sound bites of the 'Gipper' with his hand on his ear and throwing out one liners that didn't make any sense but more or less presented the appearance of someone who knew what he was talking about.. when in fact he was so out of his depth you might as well have had Bonzo (of Bedtime for Bonzo) in the Oval Office.

Someone said you can get by with someone who is stupid and lazy in high office, the problems come when you elect someone who is stupid and industrious like Reagan. I fear we have a Reagan clone in Perry.. and Obama has been so inept as President that Perry could win. No one could really accuse Obama of being industrious.. or of having any kind of vision whatsoever.. but Perry could take Neoconservative libertarian nonsense to its next logical step.. complete economic collapse.

I dont care if they pray, but if they deny scientific facts and go for superstitious belief systems instead-yes I think they should not be leading a country. Maybe a church group. If his solution to concrete problems he is responsible to fix is praying rather than action, then I'd say he is incompetent.

50-100 years ago or more it would be understandable to not believe in evolution as there was little evidence for it and other theories. Denying evolution now is like the Catholic Church denying a heliocentric model when confronted with evidence in the time of Galileo.
