I enjoy Rick's Rants too. In fact, his Ezra Levant Rant is one of my favourites.
Funny how they're friends eh?

I cruise and check out CBC, Kos, Huffpo or MSNBC if that's where the story heads.
So do I, as well as Al Jazeera, and so on. Like you said, wherever the story leads. I don't care how biased the source maybe, sometimes they get sh!t right.

Mind you, I do wear a full body condom when I surf but that's maybe too much info for some or all. ;)
Ditto and I scrub thoroughly when I'm done.

Definitely TMI.

Just sayin'. ;)

I thought so at first but then I realized Rick is also a really big supporter of freedom of speech and Ezra has a pretty damned good sense of humour. So it kinda fits.

I get news from all sources, I just filter out the bias as best as I can. If more people would just read properly, it actually is easy to discern between the writer's or reporter's personal point of view and the facts behind the story. And with the important things I try to read the same story from different sources, the similarities, I would assume, are undoubtedly the truth.

That's why I ask questions. The answers say much more than just the words written. ;-)

That's why we get along, even though we don't always agree.

They always do. They say I picture is worth a thousand words, but I'd say a few well thought out sentences can be worth many more if one takes the time.

And here I thought it was because of my unabashed charm and killer commentary.;)

Because the conservatives know that CBC brings substantial revenues.

BTW, I checked out your link.....CBC does NOT make a profit, in any sense of the word.

The study, paid for by the CBC, claims the CBC causes economic spin-offs that are more than the $1.2 BILLION you and I are expected to pay for them.

SO WHAT??????

The gov't is still out the $1.2 Billion.

And I don't see any benefit.

Entertaining, sensational, not really news, but quite illuminating.

As is this thread.

I wouldn't say that Ezra is your typical investigative reporter, or a reporter. But he's done nothing Marg Delahunty or Rick mercer hasn't done.

They get props, Ezra gets jeers.

Very telling.

Exactly.
As I said, he's theatre.
That's the whole point, which is fine, that's what he's paid to do. Like Don Cherry on HNIC - get someone with half a clue, but opinionated and mouthy, let him rave. He'll draw two types of viewers - those who agree with him, and those who disagree with him.
The worst kind of columnist or tv personality is the one nobody cares about; nobody will watch.
His mission is to draw attention, just like those personalities on CBC. If nobody complains, they aren't doing their job.

SUN needs to sell ad time too. That's why they have Ezra Moore showing up at cafeterias at lunch and pestering security guards for their highest of wisdoms in regards to CBC.

All news today is part entertainment. It's all info-tainment, which is why people have to be more discerning about what they are watching or reading. The irony I guess is that while we all now want everything handed to us, easy-peasy, we actually have to work a little harder for the story behind the sensationalism.

And far, far too few people do that I think.

No, that's what give me butterflies in my tummy...:p

You are a shameless flirt, lol. :)

I used to work in a retail store right next door to the CBC in Ottawa.

CBC employees, especially low level ones, and wisdom do not belong in the same sentence together. Never, ever. Not even in jest.

Those were some weird cats, let me tell you.

I haven't found anything on TV entertaining since Tommy Hunter ended.

Don Cherry should start pulling some of Tommy's outfits out of CBC wardrobe and take things to the next level.
