Wow. I dunno J, I think eanassir being the op of this thread has every right and reason to give his beliefs on just where the solutions lay to this impending crisis, and there can be no question that morals and ideals guide our philosophy. We (the inept species) got us into this mess, and it is up to 'us' to find a reasonable way out of it or face the collective consequences. And it won't be pretty. As I believe the Almighty Power That Be might put it... ya can pay Me now, or ya can pay Me later. or maybe as Bob Dylan put it in a song, "it may be the devil or it may be The Lord, but you're gonna have to serve somebody"
Our misguided politicians over the last fifty years thought it was perfectly alright to tax the unborn with deficit governments. This is child abuse on a colossal scale. They need to have mountains of garbage built, one dedicated to each of their names (garbage crisis solved). Surely everyone must realize by now that they had created a fool's paradise. All those years we patted ourselves on the back because we had the best standard of living in the world? All built, bought and paid for by people who aren't even born yet. We've ruined life for them and they will not remember us fondly. And surely everyone must also know that all of our socialist pipe-dreams could easily be paid for with the money that now goes to service this debt? So yeah, charging token amounts of interest might be okay on a personal or business level, but governments, i.e., the collective (the taxpayer) should never have had to pay interest. But given that there is interest, then governments should never have gone into debt. I really believe socialistic ideals are good for a society, provided they can stand on their own two feet. But not at the expense of future generations. I've often contended that socialism, as we know it (founded on debt), is a capitalist conspiracy. Who gets rich off of interest? You got it: capitalists.
You socialists really need to give your collective head a shake (and tell us what you hear) before you whine for one more lousy dollar.
