I am in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and help run a group for like minded people. We meet at least once a month downtown late Saturday afternoon usually in the middle of the month. Our meetings either discuss a couple of things then for anyone who does not have to rush off we do some sort of fun event. Now every few months we replace our regular meeting we a special event like a movie night, potluck dinner, party or something else. We are always looking for new members. Should you have any questions feel free to let me know.

You have "technically correct" confused with "willfully blind".

Nope, God makes plants on his third day, before he makes the sun on day 4. The universe is billions of years old...plants couldn't survive even a single year without sunlight. He also called the moon a light, which is incorrect, it is merely reflecting the light produced by the sun.

Fantasy and science fiction. I could go on if you like?

I love science fiction! I read a good one once, it was called "Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin. :p

Why is the creationists and the evolutionist feel the need to start something in a comic book fantasy scifi thread?

You two boys run along now, so we can talk about robots, dragons and monsters.

Welcome to the site Kalel.

Are you an enthusiast or do you do your own stuff as well?

Personally, I didn't expect this personal ad to last long...it's pretty much spamming for members. And I'm easilly trolled by science deniers.

But I can contribute to this thread. On recommendation from a co-worker, I am about to start The Walking Dead graphic novels. The show was pretty good, looking forward to Season 2. The print looks great!

I was perusing the Walking Dead GN's. There are quite a few. You might also want to check out The Dark Tower GN's based on Stephen Kings Magnum Opus FANTASY SCI FI . Very nice artwork.

I'll be sure to check em out!

As far as dragons go, I haven't read any fantasy stuff in a long time...Jamie is currently hooked on Dragon Lance stuff, which I read back in elementary school!

The Freak Brothers were my favourite.

I thought they weren't called comics any longer but graphic novels these days.
In the original Giorgia Straight (when it was considered an underground paper) there was a regular page called Harold Head by Rand Holmes. He also did a GN called The Anus Clenching Adventures of Harold Head. Great stuff, then he got into SiFi. Really spacey. I seem to have lost his SiFi books.

...The Anus Clenching Adventures...
What a great phrase that is, wish I'd thought of it, but I can guarantee I'll use it in conversation at the soonest opportunity. With appropriate credit of course. I once saw fear defined as that which gives you a tight feeling in your throat and a loose feeling in your anus, which seems about right to me. I'm not into comic books, but the bulk of my fiction reading--which is maybe about 30% of my total reading--is F&SF. There's nothing like it for taking me out of the mundane world I live in and carrying me off into flights of fancy and imagination and wishful dreams. As I posted in another thread here recently, most fiction is set in that mundane world, either past or present, F&SF is about all conceivable worlds, every imaginable reality, so what we usually call fiction is just a subset of it. For the writer who can do it well, create an internally consistent reality that violates the rules of what Piers Anthony calls Mundania, I will willingly and cheerfully suspend disbelief and enjoy the tale on its own terms. Done badly of course it's just crap, but done well... that's as good as it gets.

You can call it spamming or trolling but I posted this for the benefit of anyone looking to meet people who have same or similar interests. It seems to me for most people they either only know people with these interests online or who they might meet at a fandom event. I would like to think most of the people that our in our group and or come out to our meetings have a good experience and enjoy themselves.
