How is Michelle a hypocrite? She is leading initiatives aimed at reducing childhood obesity...her kids aren't obese. Her family is not obese. Childhood obesity is an epidemic that will cost the US billions in lost productivity...it's probably the one area of public health that could have meaningful gains in life expectancy and quality of life, similar to the big two that brought us to where we are now, namely hygiene and immunization.

If she cared about child obesity, she would promote ACTIVITY, not some phony diet plan that inevitably will be proven wrong in the next year or so, as pretty much all so-called scientific studies are. If she cared about child obesity she would persuade her husband to convince local school boards to allow kids to be kids and play tag, dodgeball, cowboys-and-indians, re-instate at least twice weekly phys ed classes and she would encourage parents to pack a good lunch for their kids, rather than rely on school cafeteria.
And she could lead by example and cut down on lobster and caviar. And join Weight Watchers.
