According to conservative rhetoric a coalition government that doesn't include it is somehow a big threat to the country, so what's the proof?
Let's keep in mind that Harper got together with Layton and Duceppe in the fall of 2005 and formed a defacto coalition to bring the Martin government down. He didn't hestitate to make a deal with the Bloc or the NDP when it suited him, it was Layton that brought forward the non-confidence motion, Harper didn't even have the confidence to pull the trigger on his own.
So what's the problem in having a coalition that will represent more Canadians than the current Parliament that Harper and his "government" have had tied in knots for the last five years. Maybe we'll finally get a national daycare program, a resolution to the First Nations issue and a real plan to deal with the evolving climate situation and so much more that is being ignored as the conservatives protect their narrow interests.
