Do you really think politeness is tied to people's political beliefs? I'm more inclined to think it's more to do with how they've been raised. Most kids are aware of manners long before they are aware of politics.
I'm pretty sure he was Y.J.- I distinctly remember one of the mods stating "that's enough", immediately before his name appeared in red on the home page. You maybe right in that it was "suicide by moderator". Anyway however it happened let's just be happy we don't have him to contend with.
