This is Just.

Of course it's just- no one has the right to interfere with the basic rights of others and last I heard, access to the mail is a basic right. Even I crossed a postie picket line- way back about '86, much to the chagrin of the laziest bastard in the post office.

"I have a pretty good grasp of that concept, for sure. Unfortunately, you're being theoretical here and that's dangerous. How many union workers shop at Wal-Mart for Chinese-produced (cheap) products? My guess is "lots." Why? "

Why, because with Walmart now being open 24 hours these guys can sneak in there in the "wee" hours, without fear of being seen by someone they know........LOL

To paraphrase darkbeaver: The right to work and earn a living never ends. It is unfortunate that the bullies (who need an even bigger bully to speak for them) are able to deter the responsible men when they are trying to make living.
I couldn't agree more...

Extremely divided.

In my current job I have had to deal with union members who did not have their contract renewed on a huge construction project because they were incompetent, slow, and the job kept being intentionally sabotaged. They then proceeded to attack buses carrying replacement workers from Alberta, claiming it was not fair to hire out-of-province!!!! This in New Brunswick....God knows no Maritimers work in Alberta!!!!!! The Alberta (non-union) workers did an excellent job.

It seems no job gets done on time, on budget anymore..........

I have been a union member in the armoured car industry, a dangerous, extremely underpaid job with a management structure over-loaded with sociopathic control freaks.........our union was simply so necessary under those conditions.

Seen it from both sides of the fence, and I am disgusted with lazy, ignorant, vicious, spoiled union members from the big established unions destroying the movement through their ignorance and incompetence, thus wrecking the chances of exploited workers to gain sympathy for their much-needed organization.

Very divided.

If you justify how that your business, I will give you the gruesome details.
You made it my business by claiming I'm riding on the coat tails of my parents and their parents. Do you know what it was like in Canada when my grandparents arrived in 1898? Were you born in and survived the worst drought to grasp the heartland of North America like both my parents? Did they beat you when you got here because you didn't speak the language? Did you work for months on end to be stiffed of your pay because you were an immigrant? Were your younger brothers tossed into a concentration camp by the Canadian Govt for being E. European? Did you fight for equal rights and equal pay of a British immigrant? Did you stand up the police harassment while fighting for universal health care?

To keep bashing the people and institutions that gave YOU a seat on the gravy train after they gave their hearts and souls to making this country prosper is an insult to everyones parents and grand parent on this forum.

I'm not even going to get started on your hatred for blacks and natives.

You have a sickness old man and I'd love to see you try to speak and act like this without the comfort of anonymity.

Anytime you want to go public and face those that bought your ticket on the gravy train I'll gladly arrange it for you.

Do you have the balls?

Northern Ontario,
The only use I have found for unions was in contract negotiations...
The one time I needed a union Stewart was in an argument with a foreman...when we got to the meeting with the super and other company rep, where I was supposed to get three days off without pay.......one minute into the Stewart's talk, I stopped him, asked him which side he was on, turned and asked the foreman three questions and his answers won my case for me.....never had any trouble with that foreman again.

Have unions and left politicos cost you anything in life?

Unions have cost a lot of people a lot. I know, I was a member for almost 30 years. For one thing their "division of labour" philosophy costs many dollars on every construction site. My Union was hell bent on awarding seniority, so quite often the senior employee got a promotion over the competent worker. Just the number of days wasted walking picket lines to gain a few cents that never compensated for the days lost walking. Don't get me wrong, I think there is a very important role unions can play- like being a watch dog on legitimate safety issues.

Hey, Y.J. I think you know all the answers as well as I do and it's no use trying to get a pro union guy to spell them out. Just the number of parasites on any union outfit payroll has cost society $billions.

Retailers?

Home contractors?

Investments?

Education funds?

in other words you're just make off hand remarks with no real backing? What did you do with your earnings?

They are not off hand remarks, if you took the time to read my first post you would know I was "there" for almost 30 years, working in a site organization ranging from 6 to 23 employees. In my setting alone many $thousands were squandered just in meetings to resolve grievances filed by incompetent employees and trouble makers. Need I go farther?
