Toronto put on quite a show in the first period against Calgary-they looked like a real hockey team- but then the roof fell in-I expect much of the same tonight.
In my view, I don't think Toronto expect to win a game on this road trip. They seemed to come back a little in the third but a couple more goals by Vancouver shut them down.
first period was very even, leafs had more serious scoring chances, but luongo was solid.
our two goals were very timely both right near the end of the period.
luongo let in one easy one, but the team rallied behind him and put in another, then another,
and came out on top.
loved the play of yanic hansson tonight, he is becoming a very complete player, just needs more
finishing around the net, and tonight he did that.
good on vineault for switching samuelsson with hanson, as samuelsson isn't doing
much of anything right, and was messing up that line, which changed for the better
when hanson came on.
it's important that canucks are winning these games that are the 'in hand' games, and keep themselves
strong in the standings.
road games now, st. louis, detroit and columbus.

I loved the game, fell asleep when it was 1/0 and woke up when it was 4/1. Can't beat that :lol:
luongo was solid, and those good scoring chances aren't caused by him, canucks allowed 2 or 3
wingers in, far too close and gave toronto excellent scoring chances, didn't notice any of those
going in. luongo missed 'one' goal, that he should have stopped.
Luongo has been very solid in last number of games, and if he had been playing against tampa bay,
I think we would have won that one, even though schneider played fine, I think luongo would have
played better.
His stats have been excellent in december, sure can't complain about that at all, he has improved
constantly since october, better stats each month.
no, he isn't perfect, but then, neither are any of the others, whether they get paid 6 mil, or 1 mil.
those who don't like luongo just watch for him to do something imperfect, and don't
see all the stops he makes that are difficult, such as tonight.
just the way it goes I guess.
Sorry but you have to be a totally piss poor goalie to not shut out the Leafs this year.

want to see bad teams, islanders and new jersey, they need lots of fixing.
leafs are improving and very young, so there is light at the end of the tunnel for them.
seems there will be some changes up stairs for them, rumours are that burke is going to step down,
and maybe nonis will become g.m., or someone else, we'll see, maybe just rumours and nothing more.
yeah prolly just rumours. Leafs do have potential they just need some scoring finesse. They can't put them in from 10 feet out. Kessel's break was a typical example, nice move to get around the D then just shoot at Luongo's crest.
just expect a mistake every once in a while, then just accept it, and take note of the mistakes
of the other goalies canucks play against.
the goalie that amazes me is price, he is so casual looking, makes extremely difficult saves, and
makes them look easy, then if he lets in one easy one, he is 'trash'.
he is so efficient, not much in the way of big athletic moves at all, fools fans into thinking that
he isn't working very hard, but I've zeroed in on him and watched everything he does, and he moves
everywhere with little effort.
kiprosoff is like that too, not quite as much as price.
luongo is more athletic and emotional, (HENCE, ITALIAN),he makes lots of fantastic saves, and they
look great, but very noticeable by his actions.
I often think of the olympic winning goal that miller let in, and have been so glad it wasn't luongo,
because he would probably be living in lower slabovia now, after being driven out of the country,
but nothing said about miller at all, he should have stopped it, but crosby was so quick on the release
of that shot, I think it took him by surprise, he thought crosby was going to skate in closer, and didn't.

The anger and energy that Samuelsson exhibited after being snubbed for the Swedish Olympic team seems to have dissipated and his hands have turned to hams.
I agree he was better tonight but not good enough.
