It's funny. With the exception of Detroit, Vancouver has 2 or 3 games in hand on the rest of the teams ahead of them. Washington, who are at the top of the standings, have played five more games than Vancouver. If Vancouver's puck luck holds they should move up the standings in the next week or so.

Absolutely. What do you predict for tonight, #Juan? 5/4 Canucks is mine. What about you Talloola?

I guess it's not really very sportsman like (but I don't really care) the Avs just got beat by an Eastern team, which kind of brightened up my day.

Good to see the Canucks defeat another "over achieving" team, with the games in hand they are pretty well right at the top of the league now, if they can keep the streak going. Too bad about Calgary.

yeah, avalanche/carolina played a very good game, close all the way, avs did get one point though.

luongo won one for the team tonight, we need him to do that every once in a while, and he showed
everyone tonight just how good he can be when he needs to be, and he needed to be tonight, kept
canucks in the game long enough for them to get 3 goals, and kept the puck out of the net, even
though he was pressured many times, and chicago poured 32 shots his way.

the twins were invisible tonight, although burrows had a very good game, his two linemates didn't
do much at all till near the end of the game when henrik shot in a rebound to make it 3-0

chicago is always a battle, because of the poor record canucks have with them, needed to win this
one, as they have to keep stride with chicago and not let them have the upper hand, they might have
to meet them again in playoffs, and don't want to give them the mental edge.

bieksa struggled a bit tonight, but he has had pneumonia, so I would imagine he is still not 100%
and needs to gain back strength and weight.

Ballard had one of his best games, he's looking better all the time.

canucks play st. louis on sunday, anaheim, wednesday and tampa bay on saturday.

oh, you mean because they won in the shoot out? lol
chicago have played quite a few more games than canucks, and lots of other teams as well.
they were without hossa tonight, and that is always a break for whatever team is playing them.

did you see luongo do his 'poems', kind of interesting I thought, shows a side of him I wouldn't have
thought existed.

thats right juan, those games in hand are a plus, now they just have to win them, and they will make
big strides.

Anaheim looked terrible against detroit tonight, 4-0 for detroit. Can't figure the ducks out, they have
one of the best forward lines in hockey, but sometimes they just don't show up.
getzlaf, perry and ryan, and with sallani there to snipe in goals, but sometimes they look awful,
sometimes they look great.
Detroit is on a roll right now, very deep in talent, and lidstrom at 40 looks ten years younger, but
they are still an older team, will be interesting to see how they hold out right thru playoffs.
The season is still young, they've only played 23 games, 57 to go.

Crosby is making everyone around him look good, he's playing awsome, had a hat trick last night and
seems to be having lots of fun right now, he's a great player. I know stamkos is scoring great and
could win the rocket richard trophy, but I don't think so, and if crosby had st. louis to play with on
his line, he would be way ahead in the stats.

Vancouver won last night in spite of Luongo's poor night. The Canucks won in the shoot out. Luongo had another one of those nights when he stood on his head and stopped shots that few other goalies would have got. But then he let in three that my grandmother could have stopped.

And, so much for teams looking tired playing back to backs, anaheim didn't look tired at any point.

Yeah, luongo had a mixed night, but the team also had many chances in anaheim's end that just didn't
result in goals, so with a little more puck luck last night canucks could have had more goals, and
the game would not have been so close.

kesler was amazing, fought so hard, and fought that tieing goal into the net with sheer determination.

the team is doing OK right now, just wish they could 'all' stay healthy for a long period of time,
but even so they are hanging in there and staying in a good position to make big gains when they
can.
I still like my team to have to work for everything, don't like cruising thru the season on the top
then 'trying' to stay there when the crunch comes, and other teams make a big push, as sometimes
the cruiser can't find the other gear they need toward the end of a season to stay on top.

It is so important to 'peak' at just the right time, and get on a roll going into playoffs.

canucks/tampa bay saturday night, and also markus naslund night. listening to the
radio and noticing there are 'some' mixed feelings from callers about that night.
one guy phoned in and said that there are 8 of them going to that game, and they
will 'boo' when that ceremony happens.
I'm not a huge naslund fan, and also have mixed feelings about raising his sweater
but I will accept it for other reasons. good stats overall, and a good guy.
I could not 'ever' boo him, very tacky and hard hearted.

Masond Raymond has a broken thumb, is day to day right now, (out of the lineup)

Ehrhoff took a puck right on his ear, lots of stitches, very uncomfortable, not
sure if he will play tomorrow or not.

alberts is recovering from the flu, might be able to play tomorrow

injuries continue to plague the team, but they are hanging in there anyway and will have
to continue to do so.

schneider will be in net tomorrow

It's getting to be a real horserace - 6 teams in the West with 34 points. Not one of the Nucks better games. Ballard showed a little brilliance.

I thought they played way above tampa bay first half of the period one, and the last period, they lost ground
in the middle of the game, and tampa gained much energy when they realized they were actually in this
game and had a chance at a win, so their level came up.

Schneider was OK, didn't have much of a chance on some of those goals, but it would have helped if he
had have stopped at least one of them, but he did make some good saves.

That penalty kesler took right at the end was the kiss of death, as in the over time trying to defend
four on three is extremely difficult.

Yes, JLM, dropping that single point makes a big difference, stats are so tight.

I was glad to see the success of the markus naslund ceremony, it was really nice.
good of morrison to come all the way from california to attend, didn't miss bertuzzi
at all, glad he couldn't make it.

If anyone there did boo naslund, the sound of the cheers and applause drowned it out,
and that is good.

The canuck organization did a bang up job, looks good on them.

Well, Canucks have one more under their belts. I watched part of it and think they were the better team. What's going on with Washington?

Yep, Naslund was first class, the kind of guy who just went to work and kept his mouth shut. The alter ego of little darling boy Eric Lindross!

!

yeah, they are a head scratcher aren't they, all the so called top players are struggling, and ovetchkin
isn't the kind of player who can make others around him better, he needs others to feed him the puck
and he wants to run and gun, it seems he's trying to change his game, learn how to play a two way game,
and that is probably a good thing, because in the playoffs, that is what counts.

And also the way he has played up to the present will destroy his body in a few years, he needs to
smooth out his game, but maybe when he does that he won't be very effective, we'll see.

Sportsnet had Luongo as the first star. (???) He faced 11 shots all game and let in their only shot of the third period.

Edmonton didn't appear to do much except when it counted but certainly there were many times better than the last game I saw them play against Calgary.

Edmonton have actually played quite well recently, until tonight, they didn't show up. Young taylor hall
picked himself up off the ice quite a few times tonight, I think he had big plans, but they didn't pan
out, he still has a lot to learn about NHL hockey, but he will be a good one, that is for sure.

Too bad luongo lost
his shut out, the only time in the game that vancouver went to sleep for a few seconds, he should
scold them, they needed to protect him in that last minute of play.

Yeah, wasn't that silly, we laughed about that, it was probably john garret who picked them, the
other goalie should have been in his place, the score could have been about 8 to 0 if it wasn't
for him.

I've never seen a team get so few shots on goal. Is that a franchise low for Edmonton?

I read somewhere that in a 1990 game the Minnesota North Stars had 4 total shots against Chicago.

that might be a record for edmonton, they did mention the number that 'was' their low, but I forget what
they said, maybe it was 19

imagine only 4 shots in a game, that's incredible.
