Interesting memory for us. We were travelling south, had stayed in sacramento for a few days,
with our 5th wheel, right at the golf course, golfed during the day, and they locked us in at
night, so it was very secure and comfortable, and then headed south on the morning of new years eve l999, we stopped at
a small rv park, right on the 99 hgwy. I did the wash, we had supper, played cards for awhile,
hit the sack, he was sound asleep at midnight, but I heard lots of gun shots, (done in celebration),
lots of whooping and hollering for a few minutes, but then I dozed off to sleep, and that was it,
no fuss, no end of the world, my electronics worked just fine the next day, on to Yuma where we stayed
for a couple of months, travelled here and there with our truck, and had a good time.

You make me think of many good times travelling in the U.S. and their great hospitality. Never did get as far as Yuma yet but did enjoy a few days in Laughlin- great place.

I was hiding out in Galena Bay. Had one of my many meltdowns over our civilized stupidity. After fighting with the forest ministry for over a decade and their willingness to risk my friends' lives over a few trees, I decided that retreat was more preferable to shooting one of the pecker heads.

I was at home on my acreage in Bezanson with a house full of friends, and I was roughly 6 months pregnant.

New Years Eve 1999. We spent it at Trinity United Church in Vernon. What a fantastic night. The members of the church worked so hard for months. They did an entire show of the all the transitions for the past 100 years. They acted out - radio announcing, various dances, songs. I can't even begin to tell you how fantastic it was. I have it all on VHS - took two tapes. They took us through ladies clothing and the changes. One of the ladies of the church performs absolute magic with a sewing machine and the costumes she made for the women's clothing were great. Right down to the underwear! She dressed her husband up in the men's attire of the time also and children as well. They sang the most popular songs of each year, they did a little bit of tap. They did it all. They left no stone un-turned for that 100 years including war time. It's a night we will never forget.

I LOVE to play the Keno machines, but I set sensible limits (and always leave with at least half of a big win) - otherwise you may as well work for the casino. My cousin in town here watched a guy win $3500 the other day - he stayed until it was all gone!!!!!!!

Working on a ski hill on northern Vancouver Island. Hell of a good party and not a computer in site. Nice to get paid to spend the holidays on the hill.

Thats OK we have all wanted to shoot a few tree huggers from time to time. Actually about as often as wanting to shoot some officious little bureaucrat in MoF too.

I'm not sure I understand you. Were you fighting to keep the trees or to let the trees be cut down?

Perry Ridge is a very unstable 40 mile long mountain. About a thousand people live at the base of it. It has some sluffs, sink holes and has land slides come down on private lland that was clearcut. I have friends living there and the government has plans to log much of the ridge, risking most peoples water supplies and risking their lives and homes.
