For someone who claims an ability in the strategies of poker playing as you did, I would courteously suggest reconsidering any future large bets. I am a bleeding heart. Firstly, the Tamil's will be sponsored by Tamil Families in the Toronto area. Secondly, they do integrate well into our society. They believe in higher education. They are helped by the Tamil Families who made it (the hard way) in this country. Unlike many other refugees, who after 3 generations, still do not speak English. I say give them a chance. Now, about the other boats coming here, No, I think a clear message should be sent to All Countries that this is the last boat load we will take.

This is what I advocated BEFORE the last boat came here and we are still allowing illegals in and yet highly educated immigrants from other countries are being denied entrance to Canada. There are needy Canadian citizens that don't get the amount of taxpayer help these terrorist are getting.

I wonder if people understand how many people like Russians there are with PhD's and who already speak English who would give their eye-teeth for a change to immigrate to this country.

I bet if a boatload of highly-educated, English speaking Russian migrants were to land on the east-coast they'd be hit with missiles as an invasionary force.

So where would you put other refugees for three generations whilst waiting to see if they learn English and French (we are an officially bilingual country last time I looked). It has been my experience that in both the immigrant and refugee families I've encountered it is usually the elders who will not or simply cannot learn to speak a new language; the second and third generations invariably become fluently bilingual and often multi-lingual.

Nope! The maritime provinces don't merit the expense of protection as far as Ottawa is concerned; in your "Russians in Wonderland" scenario, they speak English, so as soon as they enter Quebec they'll get hopelessly lost due to the laws against English signs; the few that make it through to Ontario will only get the missile response (we only have two) if they try to enter Toronto during an NHL game. :hello1:

They weren't poor if they could pay smugglers. They don't need to be turned away at sea, and by law they can't be, but they should be put on a plane and sent home. If they are indeed refugees, they should follow the proper channels, get on a plane, and enter the country by the front door. These people were clearly trying to sneak into the country and when they were caught, then they claimed to be refugees.

I have no problem with at all. I have many neighbours who are from various parts of
the world. Some great food choices when people get together. My problem is with
those who don't follow the rules and we make excuses and make special rules for the

I think most Canadians agree with this. We have a big country, and there is room for everyone that has something to contribute, or who is no longer safe in their own country. The problem with this group of people, and the one before them (with 76 Tamil passengers that settled in the Toronto area), is that they have discovered a loophole in Canadian immigration, and are eager to exploit the weakness. The first ship tested the loophole, and this one loaded up and came in the same back door. With two more ships waiting to sail, Canada has to make immediate change to address the problem. After the next two ships, we can expect boatloads of people from everywhere exploiting the country's generous immigration laws.
