The self is an artificial barrier set up to simulate autonomy for the purpose of worship of the whole by that imagined part. But even an image or an idea is as real as it gets, it has substance and purpose and effects displacement of the aether within which it is suspended with the charge or purpose of awareness. You can try as you might but you will never define nothing with something. While I may have made my own image I cannot seem to make that images stomach fill up with t-bone steak. My powers are very limited I guess.

The nature, the inmost nature of the self, when you have gone through all the layers of the self, the essence is nothing. You are nothing. Right? .....
We are absolutely nothing.

Where's the rolling around on the ground, side splitting smilie!
You have to open up the "extra smilies" by hitting the "more" button to find it. I lose patience with it. lol

If one really thinks about 'how' much we are 'something' on this earth it is kind of scary.

Of all the living creatures here with us, we are the only ones who can walk upright on two legs,
comfortably and naturally, reason, plan way into the future, etc., I haven't noticed any earth
animals flying planes or building schools and hospitals, and inventing things, 'but we do', that
tells me we are quite 'something indeed', and we should be very aware of that and become more responsible
on this earth, and care for it much better, we have to look after all other living things as well as
ourselves.

We are it baby.

Do you think a bird lives in fear of dying? It meets death when death comes; but it is not concerned about death, it is much too occupied with living, with catching insects, building a nest, singing a song, flying for the very joy of flying. Have you ever watched birds soaring high up in the air without a beat of their wings, being carried along by the wind? How endlessly they seem to enjoy themselves! They are not concerned about death. If death comes, it is all right, they are finished. There is no concern about what is going to happen; they are living from moment to moment, are they not? It is we human beings who are always concerned about death - because we are not living. That is the trouble: we are dying, we are not living , we're nothing .

/QUOTE]

it is not a negative thing that we are aware and naturally have some fears of our death. We know we
will die, none of the birds flying around etc., have a clue that someday they will die, they just live,
enjoy themselves, have hardships and sometimes die on the branch and fall to the ground without uttering
a sound, so be it, they wouldn't know what to be afraid of, but we do, and we strive to live our lives
anyway, some of us, better than others, but it is not a weakness of ours to know the future, it is a
strength.
The birds and animals are a result of what nature gave them, and they do not have near the capacity to
accomplish what we can, and if we were like them, the earth would still be without any progress
at all, and also without the nastiness we can bring to the world as well, but we are far above the animal world,
when it comes to intelligence, and we live with what 'we' have just as the 'birds' and 'animals' live with
what they have, and it's not that the animals/birds have a talent for living without fear, or the thought
of what will happen to them tomorrow, they don't have the capabibilities to do so.

yes, we are something all right, and should be happy and proud of what we have between our ears compared
to any bird or animal.

when it comes to dying without living, you should only speak for yourself, for you can only know yourself.

lol... try and grab a bird. they live with plenty of fear for their lives. if they didn't, they wouldn't still be around. Self preservation doesn't work very well without a fear of death. And talloola... you've hit the nail on the head... we know only ourselves. if china is disabled by a fear of dying, I feel sorry for him. Thankfully, I'm not. I live my life just fine.

yes, birds and animals have lots of fear, 'instinctive' fear for their survival, but they do not know the
future and what it will bring them as we do, if they did they probably would sit on their branches and
tremble all the time waiting, and as you said Karrie, you live your life just fine, as I do also. Not
sure if I would want to 'not know' that we have a life span, because we also would not have many other
functions of intelligence, we have to bare it all, and I am happy to do that, as with the good, comes
the difficult, so lets just get on with it, face it all, and 'l i v e '.

Good morning girls- How do you respond sensibly to a thread where there is no sense?:lol:
