For any purpose? ................besides being obnoxious.......:p:p:p
If I want to enjoy a brew and wings on a patio, I don't want to be smelling and breathing second hand smoke. As far as I am concerned smokers should butt out.

Its pretty simple. The cab is a workplace, and smoking is banned in all work places.

Because the working stiffs have the right to health and security of person... how bizarre we don't extend that to kids yet hey?

You could always enjoy the brew and wings inside where smoking is banned just for people like you.

Have you ever been in a welding shop?

I've been around welding, yeah. From what I've seen WCB has ventilation and safety guidelines in place to attempt to minimize the risk of a necessary part of the job of a welder. Are you trying to compare the unalterable nature of welding with the completely alterable issue of smoking around children?

No, the workplace.

When I had my shop in Scarborough, I had some of the best ventilation, including smoke eaters that cost me a fortune. There was still a blue haze 5 feet off the floor.

We were visited a few times by the MOL. I even pointed it out him. He said it was a welding shop, so what.

But if he caught me smoking in there, oh boy, look out!!!

;-)

No, the workplace.

Bear.... workplaces have government mandated responsibility to eliminate as many risks as possible for their workers, which was my point... the government recognizes the right of workers to have their health protected. Not a thing you've said has made it any less bizarre that we endeavour to protect grown adults from welding fumes, but let parents blow smoke into their children's lungs.

Because people like you want everything and want everything all your way.

Why can't smokers have a space too? Are they not paying customers? People with rights?
Smokers have the same rights as anyone else. No-one has the right to do harm to anyone else, though, and smoke is harmful. :)

Smoking is banned in all workplaces in Ontario, yes.

Well, if I was the owner/operator of the truck, you might just see it getting converted back & forth from a work place to the smoking coffee room & the cops could go screw themselves.

I could, but why should I?

I think I'm finally getting the picture- you want two designated places to enjoy your brew and wings while I have none to enjoy my cigarillo.......................... that's democracy and probably in that F'n Charter.

People with rights?

If you read the Charter, Bear, which right do you suppose should take precedent? The right to smoke or the right to not inhale toxins? From what I can see, only one of those is covered, and the right to smoke isn't it.

Karrie, I'm tired and really not in the mood to rehash the afternoon, if you care to go back and read what I have written in regards to the Charter, the abuse of the Highway Traffic Act, please do so at your leisure.

I've read it. And I agree as it applies to such a narrow protection. Such an avoidable toxin exposure should be not be allowed ever. Parents should not be allowed to fill their children's lungs with cigarette smoke.
