Socrates, Harper has benefited me personally, tremendously. In 2005, RRSP contribution limit was 16,500. For 2010 it is 22,000. That means for the two of us, we can claim 11,000 in deduction more compared to when Harper came to office. At 45% tax rate, that saves us almost 5000 $ in taxes.
He also has cut corporate tax. We have a corporation. We are saving several thousand dollars in corporate taxes annually. We are making out like bandits under Harper. But then that is to be expected. Under conservative rule, invariably the poor get poorer and rich get richer.
However, I still think that Harper is bad news for Canada. He is borrowing more than 1000 $ every year from every Canadian. He is financing tax cuts from borrowed money. So if Liberals want to get rid of corporate tax cuts, I am all for that, provided they use it to balance the budget.
I personally don’t feel it right that we should in effect take money from poor and lower middle classes (but of course if somebody gives me money, I will take it). Everybody is giving 1000 $ to Harper, the poor and lower middle classes get very little of it back. Upper middle class and rich get much more than their share. That just isn’t right.
