Soc, you are getting despirate, a supporter of a badly floundering and drowning party. Give up.

Spoken like a true Harper acolyte. Conservatives have confidnelty predicted the demise of Liberal party many times before this.

And it is not really surprising. What Conservatives desire most of all is a one party state in Canada, Like they have in Egypt, Syria, or Alberta. Conservative idea of paradise is their party perpetually in power, like it is in Alberta.

I suppose what is good for Alberta is also good for Ottawa. This wishful thinking makes conservatives to predict the demise of Liberal Party (indeed, all the other political parties) from time to time.

Thus when Mulroney got a big majority, his acolytes confidently predicted that Liberal party was dead. Now Harper acolytes are doing the same thing. Liberal Party dead? You wish. Then there would be paradise in Canada won’t it? Conservatives in power perpetually, sky high deficits as far as we can see, Canada drowning in debt.

Death penalty for pick pockets. Mandatory teaching of Book of Genesis in schools. Ban on abortions. Privatizing of health care. Abolishing of minimum wage, as a result people starving in the streets.

What a paradise. I can hardly wait.

I will say one thing for the Conservatives......no corruption (so far)........no tens of millions for their political Party, no mobsters in Cabinet......

That, and their stand on gun control and foreign affairs is enough to keep me voting for them

Not at all, the liberals have just been packaged, branded and marketed better. They're no better then any other party. They're self serving and corrupt. That's a prerequisite to be a politician.

Riiiiiight...

That isn't Canadian political history. That's how you spin it to justify your propaganda and ineptitude. But the fact of the matter is completely different.

CB show me were the Conservatives since Confederation are on record to show 57 years between 4 men of rule, and tell me why that hasn’t happened in 147 years .

Liberals would freeze corporate tax rates
by taking a stand on corporate tax cuts, the Liberals now will be able to respond when challenged about where they'll find cash for their social programs.

And the Liberal policy could potentially force Conservatives to campaign in the next election on tax cuts for corporations -- not a big vote getter.

Bill C-428 will allow recent immigrants to apply for OAS in 3 years instead of the existing 10.
This bill had first reading in the house on June 18, 2009. It was seconded by Bob Rae!! MP Ms. Ruby Dhalla who introduced the bill represents the riding of Brampton whose population is mainly East Indian. Right now you have to have lived in Canada for 10 years in order to qualify for Old Age Security. She wants the time reduced to 3 years. Thousands could come to Canada when they are 62 years old, never having worked or contributed to this county's tax system etc, and qualify for full Old Age Security benefits. 10 years minimum is reasonable. 3 is not!

From where do all the extra funds for an already near bankrupt program come?

A bunch of demented thugs,
Just wait and see how colourful this will be at the end come election time…"

Well I see 1230 posts later and you are still arguing about this nonsense. All you have to learn is two axioms and you can put this thread to rest

AX #1. Liberals = Conservatives
AX #2. Liberal incompetence & corruptness = Conservative incompetence & corruptness.

Socrates, Harper has benefited me personally, tremendously. In 2005, RRSP contribution limit was 16,500. For 2010 it is 22,000. That means for the two of us, we can claim 11,000 in deduction more compared to when Harper came to office. At 45% tax rate, that saves us almost 5000 $ in taxes.

He also has cut corporate tax. We have a corporation. We are saving several thousand dollars in corporate taxes annually. We are making out like bandits under Harper. But then that is to be expected. Under conservative rule, invariably the poor get poorer and rich get richer.

However, I still think that Harper is bad news for Canada. He is borrowing more than 1000 $ every year from every Canadian. He is financing tax cuts from borrowed money. So if Liberals want to get rid of corporate tax cuts, I am all for that, provided they use it to balance the budget.

I personally don’t feel it right that we should in effect take money from poor and lower middle classes (but of course if somebody gives me money, I will take it). Everybody is giving 1000 $ to Harper, the poor and lower middle classes get very little of it back. Upper middle class and rich get much more than their share. That just isn’t right.

LW I make a prediction, it will not become anything, it is stupid, I agree, it will not happen. If that happened then the people who waited for the 7 year period maybe they should get compensation for pension lost for 7 years. That is so crazy.:canada:

That last paragraph is what creates hardship, in society, the ones who get shoved to the bottom are many, they need food, clothing, they need health care, they need housing, they need jobs. ...................when the poor suffer from these essentials the country or the politicians responsible don’t have much to be proud about, at the end of the day.
And that is hardship, huge operating deficits as well sky high National debt create huge hardship on the majority of the poor while the majority of the Rich ( Corporations ) rape the rewards of exploitation. for sure that is not right.:x

JLM your Liberal phobia is obvious, we are discussing why some people have a profound phobia towards the Liberals, you start the Death penalty thread and you side track to abortion morality. Politics is fun as long as no one threatens any one which is not the case here. So your political algebra above is humorous. Why stop the thread.?:canada:

Has someone threatened? Maybe you should report it....

My six-year-old grand daughter sat with me while the news was on Friday. In one news item - a recap of the budget speech - McGuinty was speaking on something-or-other. From across the room he was being shouted down - the usual procedure from these respectable examples of responsible society. She asked why they were fighting, whereupon I explained they were Liberals and Conservatives and NDPs. Now, at school that day, they had a policeman in class speaking on bullying and gangs - exactly to which she likened the Legislature.

If a six-year-old can figure it out ... why can't the partyliners?

WTF are babbling about? The question makes no sense, it's irrelevant to the conversation. Not to mention, no one, including myself is arguing the history here.

You keep claiming that popularity dictates that the Liberals are better then. The facts dictate otherwise.

Just because someone is popular, does not mean they are free from corruption. Why is this so hard for you to grasp.

If your granddaughter figured it out at six, my guess is, it will take the Sock puppet about 12 year from this point to figure it out.

That is a private member's bill and doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of passing. It is very rare indeed for a private member's bill to become a law. That is simply conservative talking point, something they use to raise money. Nothing more.

The point of private member's bill is to generate discussion. Then if the idea is worthwhile, one of the two major political parties may take it on board and pass it when they come to power.

But to claim that the bill is as good as passed, is conservative propaganda, nothing more. Something with which to scare the rubes into donating to the Conservative Party.
