Wouldn't it make his day to have someone cross his stern....

This happened to a scallop vessel I was observing on... it's kind of a long story to explain the background, but it was an inexperienced captain who towed right over top of the drag from my boat, on a heading from our 2 o clock.... Nothing broke, but it was pretty tense. Lots of yelling. Lots of groans from the drag cable as it stretched taught, and the stern dipped low enough to bring water aboard.

That was a horrible trip too, but not because of this incident...

A Dragger......Now that's what I call a trolling machine...

A few pics of my nephew's boat I took a few years ago in Baie des Chaleurs N.B. You need to be quick on your feet when they bring that drag in....I didn't know raw scallops were that tasty:smile:

The last pic my nephew...the captain

Raw scallops are the best! Have you ever had one of the orange ones? More glycogen in the muscle, they are very sweet!

Never had the orange ones.....but raw are very sweet too, but just like fried cod liver you shouldn't eat too much in one sitting.......
That time they weren't at work (I wouldn't want to be in the way when they are working)
That was in June, right after the lobster season, and they had just finished fitting in the drag and they gave her a test run...
two short passes not far from shore..(not really where they usually go) and they had enough for several meals .
