Hey Risus - you remember that $10 bet I was willing to make with you a few weeks ago? You were willing to bet the SEnators would win the cup and I was willing to bet you they wouldn't. Have you reconsidered accepting my bet?

Canada will switch to Luongo, likely for as far as they go in the games.

Yes, Brodeur gave up his priviledge, and now someone else
gets the chance, that's the way it goes for any of them,
so I'm glad babcock made the change. That game against
the u.s. was crucial, and canada outplayed the u.s. by
quite bit, had many chances, and the difference was both
the goaltenders, one great, and one average.

Anyway that is history now, so we face the germans tomorrow,
and must work hard to make sure we take that game before
thinking about anything after that.

good luck canada

I'm glad you cleared that up, Talloola about Canada outplaying the U.S. - that was my take on the game, but there were a few on here yesterday yammering about the U.S. outplaying Canada and I was beginning to wonder if my vision wasn't blurred...... but I knew if need be I could get you to sort that one out. That was too bad, that soft goal at about 19 seconds of the first period turned out to be the killer. Without that, the goalie would never have been yanked. Canada was really pouring it on in the third. There was certainly nothing wrong with their speed. I think they can still prevail, but hey if not, it 's not the end of the world.

yeah, that's an easy one, just switch the goalies in that
game, and the winner and loser would also have switched.

exactly, not the end of the world, this is a good tournament, lots of good teams, I like the way the
so called poorer teams have improved so much. Canada
has an uphill climb, but it's no picnic for the other
teams either, they all have their strengths, and ALSO
their weaknesses, the u.s., the russians, the swedes,
and the rest including canada, if anyone thought that
canada should breeze through the tournament, then they
haven't been paying attention, when the going gets tough
the tough get going, and now is the time.

One thing I learned years ago - You NEVER EVER take your opponent for granted.

that is the worst thing a team can do, because their own
game will sag, and all of a sudden they are worse than
the opponant they had no respect for, even though canada
is stronger than germany, the game has to be played,
and germany has lots of pride and a team full of good players, so the better team has to 'know that,'and both
teams should play their 'best' for a good game.
