Gee whiz, thanks for cluing me in.

If thoughtless C&P is gonna clog up the thread then so will I with meaningless drivel.

How about banning C&P from threads like this and only allowing links embedded in sentences much the same way Tonnington does or how about ones own thoughts just like tonnigton and extrafire?

Perhaps an opening to a thread could contain links or C&P but after that it should be very limited.

Honestly, it turns every thread into a joke.

Inhofe's 3 hour island tour to Copenhagen

Tags: Jim Inhofe, Kevin Grandia, US
The great leader of the Copendeniers, US Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), showed up on the Danish island of Copenhagen for a fly-by press event here at the international climate treaty.
If the lack of significant media coverage is any indication, it was a waste of time for the lonely fringe Senator from Okalahoma,
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the press conference, as it was organized very last minute. But if I had, these are the questions I would have asked:
1. Given that you are one of the largest recipients of funding from the oil and gas industry in the Senate, I am interested in knowing who paid for your flights over to Copenhagen?

2. Is your former assistant Marc Morano and/or CFACT providing support for your trip here?

3. What do you think of your top climate science adviser, Christopher Monckton, calling young Americans "Nazis" and "Hitler youth"?

4. Why did you not bring any of your Republican Senate colleagues? Your colleagues on Capitol Hill and the media have repeatedly stated that you're all alone in your stance on climate change. What makes you think you're in a position to say a US clean energy and climate bill
will never happen?

5. Is it just a coincidence that you get so much money from the oil and coal industry and believe that climate change is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people?

I'm not holding my breath that any mainstream media asked a question remotely close to these. After all, this is the same press corp that took the East Anglia leaked email spin job hook, line and sinker.

I can understand Janke's apprehension towards good journalism, I don't agree, but I can understand why he'd think it's a bad thing to report the scientific facts, and take care not to create balance on ideas which in reality are not so balanced.

Global warming is causing earthquakes and tsunamis says liberal author

Henry Percy

Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues, was on the Joy Behar Show the other day denigrating Sarah Palin for having "a level of intelligence that hasn't really evolved yet." Proof? Palin does not believe in global warming.

As Joy Behar notes, "Every scientist at every note believes in it." And what is it that convinces Ms. Ensler, science maven extraordinaire, of the verity of global warming? "We just kind of have to walk around the world at this point and look at what is happening to nature and earthquakes and tsunamis." Sounds like the kind of proof that "every scientist at every note" would call rigorous.

A couple months ago I heard a caller on a radio talk show assert the same thing. When the host tried to disabuse him of the notion that tsunamis are caused by global warming he would have none of it. The man was obviously ignorant, so I laughed it off. Now a successful author, obviously one with "evolved intelligence," repeats the same fantasy. Where is the Left getting its talking points? I guess it's equivalent to Al Gore claiming that the earth's core is millions of degrees hot. If the intellectual leaders of the Left are so ignorant of the most basic facts about how our world works, what hope is there for their credulous followers?

Maybe some of the stimulus money could fund remedial science courses for liberals on NPR and PBS. Nothing too rigorous: animation should be sufficient for someone with "evolved intelligence" such as Ms. Ensler.

There are stupid people all around us. Stupidity is not limited to one side of this debate.

How Wikipedia’s green doctor rewrote 5,428 climate articles

By Lawrence Solomon

The Climategate Emails describe how a small band of climatologists cooked the books to make the last century seem dangerously warm.
The emails also describe how the band plotted to rewrite history as well as science, particularly by eliminating the Medieval Warm Period, a 400 year period that began around 1000 AD.
The Climategate Emails reveal something else, too: the enlistment of the most widely read source of information in the world — Wikipedia — in the wholesale rewriting of this history.
More of someone else's opinion, Wally?
Unfortunately, the practise of cooking books, subverting the focus of the real issue, and spreading speculation is not limited to the climatologically, politically correct.

An ad hominem argument has the basic form:

Person 1 makes claim X
There is something objectionable about Person 1
Therefore claim X is false. The first premise is called a 'factual claim' and is the pivot point of much debate.

The contention is referred to as an 'inferential claim' and represents the reasoning
process. There are two types of inferential claim, explicit and implicit. The fallacy
does not represent a valid form of reasoning because even if you accept both co-
premises, that does not guarantee the truthfulness of the contention. This can also
be thought of as the argument having an un-stated co-premise.

Both this post, & the one above it, are Off-Topic & contribute nothing to the
discussion. Let's please take the discussion back On-Topic. Thank You.
You should really try to curb your habit of hijacking threads like this, Ron. lol

Avro does have a point, though, ES. All Walter seems to do is cut and paste other people's opinions without thought, reading what he posts, or bothering to consider anyone else's opinion. Anyone can post C&Ps of others' opinions and little, short, dumbass comments about opposing views.

wow Editorialising about comics' opinions about the issue now. Perhaps we should ask Doodles the Clown what his views are next? Or maybe one of my dogs? One of the neighbor's donkeys?

First Time Ever -- Snow on Ground in All 50 States

Marc Sheppard

The storm that just dumped enough snow on the Florida Panhandle to force the closing of the University of West Florida has brought the official count of states with the white-stuff on the ground to a full 50.

Patrick Marsh at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration told USA Today that “he's unsure if such a weather phenomenon has ever occurred before.” Others, including Janice Dean at Fox News, have declared the literally nation-wide measurable snow to be unprecedented.

With snowfall records being rewritten around the country (even Dallas reached asingle-day record of 12.5 inches falling within 24 hours yesterday), watch for alarmists and their MSM accomplices to join the entire country in its exhaustive shoveling.

Of course, as they desperately cling to their claim that recent ferocious snowstorms somehow prove rather than refute manmade global warming, what they’ll be shoveling will be neither cold nor white.

It's pretty simple...more evaporation means more precipitation.

Let's see what UAH satellites have to say about January and into this February:

Looks like it's warmer...there should be more precipitation. Come on Walt, even you can probably understand that.

If it's warmer it should rain, not snow. Many of the lower states have had much colder winters than normal. Usually the more southern states get rain this time of year.

Why should it rain? That's stupid Walter. It's still Winter, there is still a pattern of persistant high pressure over the Arctic, forcing cold air south, and water still evaporates below 0°C. If it's cold enough to snow, you still get snow, and 0.8°C warming in one hundred years doesn't mean that snow disappears.

In 40 years, moisture is up over 4% in the atmosphere. Given the right conditions, nobody should be surprised that we get big snow storms in the winter...

There are all kinds of weather events that have nothing to do with global warming. I do think there are problems but not to the extent the scientists are claiming. I should
be remembered these science folks want research money to carry on with their studies. Science itself is coming under more scrutiny for its statements and I for one
don't have much trust in these scientists the same as I lack confidence in lawyers,
police officers, judges, Doctors and other front line professionals. Climate change is
on going and has for billions of years whether we like it or not, and these changes will go on as long as there is a planet. I don't believe we have much to do with it
period.
