Our PM is in India right now...

I don't see anybody freaking out about this....

Well he is Canadian

Fact is, only small minded bigots who have no understanding of others cultures would react negatively to our nations representative taking part in others peoples traditions.

Here's a thought, how about taking on REAL issues.

Maybe we should go back to your "Why do Blacks commit more crimes" thread before you call anyone a bigot.

It was silly to bow like an peasant. He is the President of the United States and he was bowing like a Japanese school girl.

Where in the news did it say he bowed like a school girl ?

Being President does not make him inhuman. Why should he not follow a custom of the country to make the people of the US of A more welcomed both business wise and tourist wise ? Why is this different then Nixon and was he not President when he bowed ?

You can make any joke you want. Keep in mind some jokes show many of your true colors..

Oh that was me...all me.

He can do whatever he wants...so can Nixon. I'm not a big fan of tricky Dick.

You can make any joke you want. Keep in mind some jokes show many of your true colors..

So people may think that I would rather have our President threaten to cut the heads off other world leaders?

Just paying you back.

So I am bigot for trying to understand crime stats?

....and, it is a real issue.

Because you led off with something that was not factual and you made the statement "Why do Blacks commit more crimes" as an absolute. You sterotyped using a title that is COMPLETELY untrue. White people actually commit more crimes than African-Americans...that IS fact.

Just paying you back.

Still, what does it mean?

Canadians have no problem with respecting other cultures and don't consider our leaders as Gods?

Then please, post the facts in that thread where it belongs, perhaps you can correct my misconceptions.

No and what does that have to do with it ?

What does having a head cut off and showing respect for someone else culture have to do with each other ?

Are you trying to say that in some cultures it is a show of respect to cut off a head ?

I think you are taking this a bit too far to try and win a point of debate. Or perhaps you just don't want to be wrong at any cost.

Oh brother...you just have to read the thread. I was just joking with Anna...when Avro commented on my joke...and I responded to that...etc, etc.

Me taking it too far? Hardly. I think it was silly of him to bow like that. That is that. Other's don't...that is that.

Well if you want to start calling others bigots you should look at yourself first.

Oh I did post there as well.

No problem..

I still see no issue with the bow and having common courtesy for another's culture.

How can someone justify showing respect as being bad or improper no matter what your position in the World ranking ?

Then I guess it does say that, what does it say when a yank does it?

WHA WHA WHAT! 8O

What are you saying about Canadians?

Which time?

Sometimes they are cool, sometimes they are not, some are friendly, some are not, some are very smart, some are very dumb, some are nationalist <cough>, some are internationalist, some lie, some are honest.

How is that?

Then I guess it does say that, what does it say when a yank does it?

Any Yank... or the President?

Why? My comment is about a real issue.

No it wasn't because African-Americans (Or as you called them...Blacks) do not commit more crimes that white people.

It wasn't a real issue...at all. It was stereotyping which could very well be considered bigotry.

Okay, I'll have a look.

You do that

Well, it depends on what the meaning of the bow is. If the bow is a sign of subservience (SJP says that everyone bows to the Queen, the Queen bows to nobody, for example), then it would be wrong for a world leader to bow to another.

If the bow is the equivalent of a handshake, just a friendly greeting, then there is no issue.

It's a question of what the bow means, and as far as I'm concerned, if the US State Dept sorts out the Protocol, then the issue is a non-issue.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

It is bad and improper if a Democratic president does it, good and proper if a Republican president does it.

I think that by adding to the story people take it out of context and make much more out of this then it deserves.
