Medicare / Medicaid is in big trouble from fraud. This has been a growing issue that has made the system corrupt and taken loads of money out of the program. With all this debate going on the Obama administration has finally focused more funding on stopping the fraud. In a system so big and bureaucratic as these it will take time to end it however costing the people much tax money.

Lieberman stands on pinciples when it's expedient to do so. He wants to be placated. The Dems will have to do so.

I don’t know, Tonington, he seemed to be fairly definitive when he said that he will filibuster any health reform proposal with public option. I assume the only way Democrats can placate him would be to introduce a proposal without a public option (which may eventually happen, if Democrats cannot get the public option through the Senate).

40% of the US economy is health care.

Something tells me if they don't nationalize it, inflation will kill millions.

Don't assume. Politics is all about cutting deals. Always has been and always will be.

1990 pages; you want me to send you the pdf?

Well, the House bill (introduced today) tops that, I hear it is 2000 pages long. Anyway, I doubt that it is humanly possible to read a 1500 or 2000 page report and remember most of it.

The problem is that lawyers get involved in drafting the bill and they want to cover all the basis, so the bills become so huge and unmanageable.

I doubt whether any politician, whether Democrat or Republican reads the entire bill. They probably get their staff to read different parts and makes notes for their benefit. Then they only look at the salient points.

A Republican politician would ask his staff to list only the problems with the bill, he wouldn’t want to know if the bill contains anything good. Similarly a Democrat will ask his staff to assemble the talking points for him, in favor of the bill (assuming he supports the bill).

That is how Washington works, and will continue that way until the lawyers are involved in drafting the bills. I saw on CNN that the original Medicare bill was 64 pages long.

Princess Nancy is going to unveil her healthcare bill today. I'm absolutely giddy with excitement. Just what we need ... another competing blue-print for a government takeover of healthcare and 18% of our economy. It also represents a huge shift in government entitlements ... a shift that will be impossible to reverse. Once you get the people hooked on government, there is no way to end it. This may the strongest and most addicition we have in this country .. and unfortunately it's legal. In fact, addiction to government could very well be the most dangerous addiction America has to deal with. Give me a good old fashioned coke addict any time. What's more, this is an addiction that is openly promoted by many politicians ... politicians who generally, an with inexplicable pride, call themselves Democrats.
The Aging Hollow-eyed Hippy from Haight-Ashbury says her government takeover of health care will cost over $1 trillion over the next ten years. That's a lie. She knows it's a lie. Our government has never introduced an entitlement program that didn't cost at least twice as much as the politicians who forced it on us said it would cost. And just how will this monstrosity be paid for? Taxes, that's how. Taxes levied by the looters on the producers to buy votes from the moochers. That's the recipe for government growth. Pelosi also plans to cut payments to Medicare providers. Medicare providers are, in case you haven't figured this out, are doctors. Under Nancy's plan more and more doctors will certainly decide to opt out of treating Medicare patients. Then the government will come along to tell them they can't. Then the doctors will tell the government to go pound sand and will simply retire. This will mean a shortage of doctors that will come at the exact same time demand for services will increase. This will mean waiting lines. This will mean rationing. And all of this will come along because the Democrats steadfastly and absolutely refuse to consider any private sector options in their health care reform plan. Why not private sector options? Simple ....
... because this has everything to do with controlling you and nothing to do with improving your health care.
So what exactly is she proposing to do with your tax dollars?
Employers would be required to offer health insurance to workers
Employers will pay fines for not offering health insurance
Americans will be fined for not purchasing insurance coverage (no word yet on enforcement)
Subsidies will be provided to poor people who can't afford health insurance
Insurance companies will not be able to discriminate against older people or pre-existing conditions
A government option will be available to "compete" with the private sector
(Can any of you figure out just where these actions are authorized in our Constitution? Oh, wait. I'm sorry. Our Constitution doesn't count anymore. K bye!)
Now these are all of the things that Nancy and the Democrats want us to know right now about Nancy's bill. But like any piece of legislation, there are hidden gems that are impossible to decipher without two lawyers, a psychic and the 3rd floor ward of your local mental institution to help make sense of it all.

Just saw this piece of news. Think this just might blow the budget, Hey SJP, does this make us more liberal than Canada or just that we have a stupid President?
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2009/10/30/national/w091454D94.DTL

Why would that make the US more Liberal then Canada or your President stupid?

Does it not just bring the US more level with 90% of the rest of the civilized World ?

Consider that as per your own link and article the following countries are the only ones left banning HIV people..

The 11 other countries that ban HIV-positive travelers and immigrants are: Armenia, Brunei, Iraq, Libya, Moldova, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Sudan, according to the advocacy group Immigration Equality.

Sorry, just a stupid President. We have enough problems with our own HIV, no need to have the world come here also for free treatment also.

Not that stupid.. Perhaps being blind to the good things he does makes you feel better ? No man does all good and no man does all wrong..

You have free treatment in your country ????

Please tell all the people in the cities I have been too ( Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, ........ ) that there is free treatment as they will love to hear this.. Most of them are paying thousands in medical bills for this present assistance

He is a talk radio host, ironsides. Or rather he belongs to hate radio, and is an extreme right wing yahoo, another Rush ‘drug addict’ Limbaugh (though I assume much smaller audience than Limbaugh).

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to what he says, except perhaps to find out what the far right Republican base is thinking.

I read as far as "Princess Nancy". Who cares what an angry biased Republican writer thinks. He lost his credibility in the first word.

You went too far, Kreskin. One I see the byline, Neal Boortz, I know that the piece is by a hate radio host and therefore worth nothing.
