Did you hear me complain about Nelson Mandela (jointly) receiving the Prize?
Did you hear me complain about Desmond Tutu receiving the Prize?
Or Martin Luther King Jr.?

As a conservative I believe in earning your accolades on merit. The ones I quoted more than deserved theirs.

Obama achieved absolutely NOTHING to steal his. Affirmative action, pure and simple.

Maybe you didn’t, but conservatives did complain when MLK got the Noble Prize, I have posted a passage here from National Review (you will find it if you go back and read the thread from the beginning) from 1965 where a conservative trashed MLK for winning the Nobel Prize.

As to Desmond Tutu, it wouldn’t surprise me if conservatives did criticize the Committee for giving him the Nobel Prize. Jerry Falwell did call Bishop Tutu a phony, so I assume he at any rate did not think that the bishop deserved the Nobel Prize.

As to Mandela, seeing that conservatives have criticized anybody they disagree with as not deserving of Noble Prize, it wouldn’t surprise me if they criticized that decision as well. I will see if I can find something on the internet.

Obama achieved absolutely NOTHING to steal his. Affirmative action, pure and simple.

That is your opinion, unfortunately for you; the Nobel Committee disagrees with you. And again unfortunately for you, they are the ones who award the Nobel Prize, not you (thank God!).

That is why I said on another thread that this selection is to their everlasting shame.
And this kind of selection cheapens and demeans the worth of a once prestigious award.

I have no desire or claim merit to award the Nobel Peace Prize. But I do recognize fraud, affirmative action (sorry, redundance) and political correctness when I see it.

I've been thinking about this a bit.......here are my conclusions:

The Committee has the right to throw their money at anyone.....and their have been much worse choices than Obama....for example, the corrupt murderer Yassir Arafat, who stole billions of dollars from his own people.

The Committee is not to be taken seriously, I repeat who has read The Tin Drum???

The Committee is very open to mass public opinion, mass hysteria, as it were, and awards often do not fit the criteria required.....for example, Nelson Mandela promoted peace in the world exactly how???????? The man was unjustly kept in prison for decades because he refused to recant violence. A great man, yes....a man of principle, yes.......but deserving of the peace prize?????? No.

I submit that the choice of Obama was made in the heat of a surging cult of personality.......and I also believe that although Osama has done nothing to deserve the prize, he accepted it with grace, and is giving it away.

Thus endeth my protestations on the matter.

A Freudian slip or an intended jibe, Colpy?

Cliffy, your post #285 clearly and undeniably proves that you are the champion of taking others out of context, misquoting others or taking words of others, and editing them to suit your arguments.

You are a liberal aren't you?

No, I'm a-political. Having been a political cartoonist I have to maintain an air of impartiality. I will skewer any political stripe.

Anyway, the peace prize is a joke. The rest of them are fine.

Why do you let it bother you then if you consider it a joke?
Same go's with most that are against Obama getting it,one minute its an award to be handled by godly types and next it's a joke.

I hate to invoke Godwins law but Hitler was also nominated for the prize and it was later withdrawn.;-)

*shrugs* It was fun to play with for a while. It's boring now. Going back to the "cheating" thread or something else now.

Heres all the answers one last time to all your questions, you can either ignore it or whatever. It's their prize, they make the rules and here he explains it all.;-)

Following the announcement, Geir Lundestad, Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, told senior editor Simon Frantz why President Barack Obama's creation of a new climate in international politics closely fulfils the statues of Alfred Nobel's will. And now a word from our sponser.

Allthough Mcain has some slick moves Obama knows how to cut a rug.

YouTube - Obama and McCain - Dance Off!

Don’t’ change the subject, Kakato. We are discussing here the Nobel Prize won by Obama, remember? We are not discussing here what a great guy dancer he is. If you want to discuss that, start a separate thread and I will be happy to discuss that with you.

Great vid 5P. Pretty much backs up my feelings on the matter. He got the prize for winning an election. In other words, it is given for being a good politician.

I particularly liked the part where it compared Obama's award to Wilson's. I wonder why those that support this decision have such a difficult time pointing to some type of significant act by Obama that warrants the action. Claiming others in history won it for doing little or nothing really doesn't help their cause....emphasis on cause.
