On the evolution of The Origin of Species

It's not that they were all alive at once but that much life to have lived within that short time is such an impossibility that it shatters any notion of the age of the earth being 6000years old.

For example. To make 1 ft of coal it takes 20feet of dead forest compressed. Nearly the same goes for limestone formation in either solution or compression. Limestone can be compressed even further into marble etc etc etc.

The amount of life to create such strata is mind bogglingly vast.

Okay... so how long did 'creation' take? What was a 'day' for God? Where does the Bible date the earth at only 6000 yrs exactly? (asks the devil's advocate, or in this case, the Bible's... lol)

Giving it more thought, I don't know that humanity could tolerate it being completely and totally quantified, even if science could pull it off. We already get squeamish when it comes to messing with genetics.

So you are saying God took his time and modified things as he went? That kinda sounds a lot like evolution to me.

God has nothing to do with evolution. At least it is never explicitly said to be so. I guess some people believe that is implicit in the bible, because they don't deny science based on allegory.

Afraid? No way. That is good stuff. I remember my organic chem professor mentioning something like this. Engineering nano-molecules for drug delivery, mentioned in the PhysOrg article. Though not through genetic programming, but through manipulation of chemical bonds. Fascinating stuff.

I think it's a categorical syllogism.

God is a perfect being.
God created us in his image, in his likeness.
Therefore we must be perfect.

Not saying that's right, but I think that's at least similar to what it stems from.
