Why is that humans need to polarize every issue?
Enjoy life? Don't worry? Oh, my God, that's an awful thing to suggest! lolLike this?

I think if I was a theist I may just laugh about something so ridiculous at first and then later try to satisfy my curiosity about what would prompt someone to post such a thing on a bus. Perhaps even graffiti it with a cross or two.![]()
Hominid works for me. lolBeing an anarchist, I think that joining any group automatically isolates one from the rest of humanity. The very exclusivity of the club requires an us or them attitude. That is the nature of labels whether we wear them, are accused of wearing them or accuse others of wearing them. That is why when someone asks me what my label is I say spiritual anarchist. It is such an oxymoron to most people that they still don't know what to label me.
since the last half of your post is pretty much answered by the last one I made in this thread, I hope you'll excuse me ignoring it and focusing instead on this one here.
Brotherhood.
Responsibility to community.
Spiritual, emotional, connectedness.
A set of mutual morals and standards.
The search for personal betterment.
These are all things that are promoted, and underlie the purpose of a church. To boil it down to simply the belief in a deity is flawed. That may be the initial thing that brought a group together (like atheism brought together the Brights), but it isn't 'all' there is, anymore than I'd assume atheism is all there is to the Brights. Once again, I see little difference.
People have pulled off some awful atrocities in the name of science, too. People are people.
I believe stretch would disagree with you and so would I. The most glaring example is the atomic bomb.Sorry Anna, I don’t think people have killed in the name of science. I don’t know of any instance where one man killed another man because he won’t believe in the Big Bang Theory, or in the String Theory.
Sure, people have acted on bad science, on poorly understood science. But for that science is not to blame, people are to blame. If somebody uses a knife to kill instead of to perform surgery, you don’t blame the knife, you blame the killer. Knife is the science here. And he is not killing in the name of knife.

Atomic bomb is not science, Cliffy, that is technology. That is the mistake many people make, they cannot tell science from technology. Chemistry of Uranium fission is the science. The nuclear reaction that takes place is the science.
What humankind does with that is the technology. Thus whether it is put into a bomb to kill millions, or whether the nuclear power is used to produce electricity, that is technology. So science is not to blame here (Science is never to blame), technology is to blame, and mankind is to blame for developing the destructive, harmful technology, as opposed to useful beneficial technology.
I would take stretch's disagreement with me as a point in my favour.I believe stretch would disagree with you...
The term "big bang" is a long running joke in the science world. It started as an insult but of course media ran with and here we are today with some still believing God heard a bang.I don’t know of any instance where one man killed another man because he won’t believe in the Big Bang Theory, or in the String Theory.
Or... did he bang someone? Is there a goddess out there perchance? The term "big bang" is a long running joke in the science world. It started as an insult but of course media ran with and here we are today with some still believing God heard a bang.

The Jews stopped worshipping God's wife Ashera in 622BC so now neither do Chrissys or Muzzies. They keep her around as Brittania, Liberty, Columbia, now a days for the old school religious.Or... did he bang someone? Is there a goddess out there perchance?
Check out some of the pioneering work into Genetics (twins),
or Hypothermia as a start. If you're not already aware of the
history, it may be an eye opener. This scientific research
took place at Buchenwald and Auschwitz among other
places. That should be enough for a start to a search.
WOW, you are particularly dense tonight, huh. I guess you've never heard of Hitler's buddies performing all manners of atrocious experiments. I guess you have never heard PETA squawking about the rights of animals that are tested just to make a lipstick or eyeliner.Sorry Anna, I don’t think people have killed in the name of science.
