According to the Bible ''a man cannot have anything unless it is granted by God''. Therefore he is always acting on your behalf, in theory.

On that basis he should give me a wealthy wife.

I wasn't mocking anything, Gerry. I was just pointing out that instead of bottling it up, letting loose and letting it go feels better. IOW, it doesn't feel like punishment.

And just what is wrong with mocking, Anna? If you feel like mocking Buddhism, Christianity or anything else for that matter, go right ahead. I mock religion many times.

I think that Christ and Buddha were both saying and I think you would agree that getting angry does little but breed more anger. The butting of heads gets no one (hopefully) anything but a headache!

Bluedog, the problem with anger is that it is a very illogical emotion; it gets in the way of logical, clear thinking. If you want to get your opponent flustered, apoplectic, unable to think logically, what you want to do is get him angry. That is what I do sometimes in the debate.

Even if you want to get even, getting angry comes in the way of getting even (I don’t believe in getting even anyway, I believe in forgiveness). You cannot think clearly, logically to plot your countermeasures to get even. I am sure you have heard of the saying, don’t get mad, get even. So the two are presumably the opposite of each other.

And that is why I rarely get angry. Has anybody seen me angry in this forum (or in Canada.com forum)?

Someone throws oats laden with rat poison into your chicken coop just to see the chickens do the funky chicken as they die deserves to have a little anger unleashed on him.

They do not deserve anger unleashed at them, Anna; they deserve to be slapped with a lawsuit for substantial damages. Isn’t that better than getting angry? That is what I would do anyway, rather than get angry.

People with delicate psyches shouldn't be wandering around pissing people off.

Nobody should be doing that, people with weak or with strong psyches.

Anger is perfectly normal. Fear is perfectly normal.

Anger may be normal, but it is also destructive. Just because something is normal does not necessarily mean that it is good. Poison ivy is normal, but I am sure nobody would want to get hit by it.

As to fear, sometimes a little bit of fear can be good, that makes one take reasonable, appropriate precautions. But excess of fear is as bad as anger.

''The armour of God is our defense''

Against what ?
*************************************************************
The armour of God actually protects us from ourselves, by faith we KNOW we have choices, to pick the destructive or positive. To reach or withdrawl. To speak or remain silent, and trust God.

What Is the Armor Of God?

This will help you understand when you hear the phrase. It talks of the battle over the evil, within us- even though we are His followers. It talks also about the world around us, the temptations and consequences, as well as threats of Humanism (?my word) governance, politics, and mankind.

Please take the time to go through the site, it is to little taught, Cliffy might want to comare it to psychology. Middle of the road stuff really... not radical at all, there is a lot to digest, take your time.:fish:

pompous often, obstinant usually, atrocious at times... I'm new, but I've never felt your ire. ;-)

You are becoming more in the image of Christ everyday! Ditch the psych lingo, pick up the philosophical... there are some common threads...

ditch the psych- it was filtered by self avowed sinners- but all came from truth.:fish:

I would start with a cayenne enema and work my way up to cedar splinters under all finger nails but I wouldn't get angry. I might feel pleasure though. ;-)

I am not convinced. If we all have free choice as biblical pundits assert, then what free choice does an abortion victim have?

Did I say anything was wrong with it? I was simply correcting Gerry's assumption that I was mocking. And now I am correcting your assumption that I think something wrong with mockery. And I don't really care what you do.

Yep. Winning is everything, whether you are right or not and at any cost.

You don't recall telling me I was a right-wing religious nut? I suppose you think you did that with a cool head.
Liar.

Exactly, but those who are for it assume there is no entity in the first place to have a choice.

Mockery is fine in small doses. But, I'd caution against too much of it. It's easy to hit a host of ignore lists that way. lol.

That would be the revenge part.

So make up your mind, either anger is good or its bad.

Anger is good, it's what keeps a lot of us sane, also it can make positive things happen.

anger for the sake of anger can be bad too when that is the only reaction you have to everything
