I'm in favor of any system that ensures that the dippers will never again get a chance to destroy our province. No parties would be preferable but I doubt it could function with 100+ MLAs
As you know, I was all for the STV and then this email came. I've been pondering this for a couple of days. Now I think I am more concerned that it might get in rather than that it might not. What do you think?

Exactly, the old system works for me. How would you like a system where the Rhinocerus Party could wind up with a seat in Victoria? That's what could easily happen with S.T.V.
For all BC Voters, here is an option for you. I have never heard of this party before they put a huge ad in yesterday's Vancouver Province. I am not asking for you to vote for this party as I know very little about them. I am merely giving you the opportunity to have a look at their platform should you still (like me) be wondering whether to vote at all.

Scare tactics?
I hate this seesaw crap back and forth between Dippers and Cons (whatever their name is at the time). Same old crap year in year out. I would love to see some green ideas introduced, or some independents in seats for a change. Under FPTP we will NEVER see anything different whether it's better or not
And elections will never change either, it'll always be the bitter, "so-and-so" aren't any good because blah blah. You wonder why there aren't many people voting anymore? It is probably because they realize that nothing will ever change and they feel it doesn't matter how they vote.
You nervous nellies just made up my mind for me. I am voting for STV and not touching a candidates box with the pencil.
I bet you all went and looked at nostv.com and read stuff but none went to All About BC-STV and read anything. And if you think STV is complicated, I bet you had a hard time with arithmetic in school.
JLM if you click on the word "Platform" on their site they say quite alot about what they are going to do.I watched, it's definitely a viable alternative (same bunch of liars thieves and corruptness) as you find in all the other parties. They don't say much about what THEY ARE GOING TO DO, just that they are NOT going to do what the encumbants are proposing. To gain any credibility with me they have to come up with something positive and quit badmouthing people.

Yep, lots of good ideas but until they happen they are just promises. Don't like the idea of killing the carbon tax (now that I've just bought a vehicle that gets 45 miles per gallon) Not much use replacing what we've got with something that may turn out to be just as sleazy and no experience.:lol:
How would you know it isn't as reliable as FPTP if we've never used it? You are clairvoyant? It's as good of a reason as any. If I were going to vote for S.T.V. (I'm not) I'd check out a similar jurisdiction to B.C. that's used it with success for awhile. There's four reasons I'm NOT voting for it 1. It's not as reliable as our system, 2. It's more complicated 3. You can't easily tell where your voted ended up going and 4. A real splinter party like Rhino could easily end up with a seat or two in Victoria (I don't believe the taxpayer should be on the hook for $70,000 annually to Rhinos & more if they get a cabinet post)
It's not going to make one iota of difference as to who ends up being premier. It will just shift the votes around a bit- like for instance take the two ridings of North VAncouver and West Van - Howe Sound, if for instance those two ridings got tied together Campbell would win the North Van riding which was traditionally N.D.P. because W.V.H.S. historically goes to the Libs on about a 90/10 ratio while N.V. goes N.D.P. on about a 55/45 ration (figure not necessarily dead accurate but close just to make the point). How would you know it isn't as reliable as FPTP if we've never used it? You are clairvoyant?
It's mildly more complicated, yes.
You're right, it wouldn't be as easy to figure out where your vote went. Basically only two bunches to vote for. Almost a 50% chance of picking the right one.
The Rhinos? Can't see why anyone would be afraid of them. Last I heard they weree the bunch who wouldn't change anything.
Anyway, fine by me if you want to continue helping Campbells and Clarks screw the province around. Best I can hope for is that neither Glibs nor Dippers get a majority in that case.
As far as I know, the STV will not come into effect this election anyway. I also cannot figure out why anyone would worry about the Rhino party. They are pretty much a big zero politically speaking. They are so far down on the list that a vote for them is a wasted vote no matter which way we vote. It's not going to make one iota of difference as to who ends up being premier.
