People who oppose Zionist opppression and injustice should not contribute toward it by also victimizing Jews.
People who are paid from the public purse should STFU and just do the job for which they are paid. Their political views, whether on South Africa, Isreal or whatever, should be kept to the individual.

CUPW is funded by union members and gets no funding from the Canadian government.

CUPW's leadership can call upon its members to act against international injustice and oppression if they want.

Union members can elect a new executive if they are unhappy with their performance.

Who pays their salary eao? Are you really that dense?

Yep, unless the laws are changed and they should be. In fact, for just such reasons as this, unions should be abolished...period

Union members can elect a new executive if they are unhappy with their performance.
Not enough collective grey matter. The leaders get them more money, all else inconsequential.

I have been a union man for most of my working life, and gratefully so.........

IF the funding by union members was totally voluntary, I would agree.......the problem is this: if I disagreed with the majority, and did not want my money supporting the Islamist lunatics of Hamas, and refused to pay union dues, I wouldn't have a job..........that is coercion, pure and simple.

And, it needs to be said, the vast majority of working men don't give a rat's ass about local politics....much less about Israel, one way or the other. This crap is the doings of a bunch of idiot activists in the union office.......

No EaO, Unions have NO place mouthing off about politics that do not directly concern workers' welfare.

You can also dissolve the union, it has outlived its usefulness in today's world anyway. A few loud mouth bigoted union organizers have no right to hold that kind of job. As I said before a lot of people just want a job. Cannot believe that you are still spouting your hatred, things are bad enough in this world.

I'm no union supporter, by any stretch of the imagination, but that was well said. ;-)

Perpetual war has everything to do with worker welfare Colpy.Where to you think the stuffing for body bags comes from. No union man would ever agree to an open shop Colpy. It's a leading cause of discontent and scabs.

Unions are interested in one thing and one thing only..... having members topay the union dues so the union bosses can live a rich life without having to do any real f*cking work!

As union is as good as it's membership, a union is it's membership. Like everything a union must be renewed the membership must remain actively involved in education and community. It's interesting to see a union member belittle union members because he's to stupid to know he belongs to one.
hint==church/union members enjoy common cause and comradeship, and the bosses in the temples pass the plate at every oportunity but as long as it's going toward the good works of the church such as feeding and sheltering the poor and misfortunate and not going to feed and clothe lazy workers or entertain thier opulent demands like education then I suppose I can understand your position, not.

.

I am in a union, but I don't really like the union. I think they're divisive and they are more concerned with increasing their membership than nursing's state as a whole. That said, they do one thing I like. You pay your dues, that's required. However, the political funding is completely voluntary. Your dues can not go to their political causes. When you sign up for membership you have the option of electing to contribute a certain amount of money for the political stuff or abstaining. I abstained.

That's right gerry they are. Any group of people who congregate for common cause be it religion or labour have in fact unionized and are in reality a union. Together they stand divided they fall. A carved in stone universal truth, disbelieve at your peril.
