Born on the bald headed prairie in Saskatchewan, raised on the bald headed prairie in Alberta.

Been in Calgary for about for about 40 years now. It's treated me well but now that I'm getting ancient I'd like to move somewhere smaller and warmer.

Like Laughlin Nevada, beautiful place.

Yeah, Nevada, Arizona, somewhere like that is under consideration. I'm just somewhat concerned that I may not be arrogant enough to fit in.
Just kidding. ;-)

Don't let the anti Americans get to you, I've traveled extensively in the western states and they are about as nice of a bunch of people as you'd care to meet and the ones in the hospitality industry are professional, generous and very friendly. It would be pretty tough for a Canadian retiree to live down there as you'd have to give up your medical coverage but from what I can gather you can spend 180 days at a time down there (which would take care of a good 2/3 of our winter)

Ya know Windwalker, we're all getting into our age these years. I've really liked all the qualities of the changing membership on this forum, but what's really notable is how much older much of the membership is here.

Bald prairies?

Sound's like you've hear the wind for good number of years.

Kind of curious to say, but it's a hazarded guess and a salute to the years implicit in your post.

Salude, que pasa?

Western Newfoundland is where my home is, but am now in Winnipeg, Manitoba and prior to here I was in Alberta for a short time. I also lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia for 11 years. Been all across the country for work reasons. Gotta say it's a beautiful country!!

States are great but - Canada is home. Move to Vancouver Island. JLM lived here for years and he hates it  but that's okay. There are lots of us on here from the Island and from the mainland and we love BC!!! You will too. (my husband lived in Alberta once upon a time. Says he'll never go back);-)

Move to Vancouver Island.

Oh believe me, we've had some great times at the Harbour Towers in Victoria. Spoiled ourselves rotten there. As a matter of fact we may do it again this year.

Toured the island and absolutely loved every minute of it. Yep, it's certainly one of the locations we've thought about.

Still have to deal with cold and snow though don't you? To some degree? I'd certainly appreciate a residents opinion.

I know you're joking I.P. but just in case others don't I'll just let them know I love Vancouver Island, various parts of it were my home for 45 years, but I prefer the weather and the less congestion of the interior and my wife really suffered from bursitis while on the Island. She came down with it at age 25. She's had no attacks for years up here.

Wind? Yeah I can tell you all about wind alright. Some of my hair is gone and I'm sure the wind had something to do with it.

Perhaps your hat had a little to do with your hair loss as well?;-)

If gumboots could be comfy and stylish...
hahaha - funny man. Just to let you know - they actually are quite stylish here because it's not often that the kids here require big heavy warm winter boots. You like it here or you would not come camping on the island.

Truthfully JLM, I am not familiar with the GF weather other than that it gets hot there in the summertime. I love Vernon. Always have and probably always will. I really like the ocean which makes living in Nanaimo good and of course - our kids and grandkids are here and that's why we are. I've never taken a liking to Salmon Arm even though it's a nice little city. It's close to Vernon so that's probably why. Just too near my favourite place. Sometimes I wish I still lived there. Kelowna is too big and too expensive now.
