Well, crap happens. Tell eannasir to quit proselytizing his Quran crap in the science and general philosophy forums.
Besides, isn't anti-christianity connected to christianity somehow? lol
I don't know who eannasir is so I'll let you tell him. If it shouldn't be here why don't the mods. move it? I'm all for religion and politics being barred from forums in truth. No win battle for everyone and more often then not, all out fights with bad feelings. In religion, those who fight the hardest to win are the aetheists and in politics the losing party seems to yell loudest.

You can’t be serious, Islandpacific. Remove religion and politics and what is left to discuss? Recipes? We may as well shut down the forum and go home.

Atheists make up 10% of the American population, but only 0.2% of the prison population. Source below. Canadian statistics not known.

Haven't watched your link but I would hazard a guess that the inmates with the longest sentences are the ones to run to the chaplin, becoming a "changed" person and finding God. It's little different than the accused standing before the family of someone they've murdered, trying to say how sorry they are for the brutality and the sorrow they've caused, all the while hoping the judge believes they have seen "the error or their ways" (right!) and gives them a lighter sentence. If they cared about God they would have lived a good life and never hurt anyone in the first place. Statistics - we can all find some somewhere to suit our needs can't we!

There are lots of things discussed on here besides the two I mentioned and they rarely cause trouble. Doubt Juan would like you knocking his cooking threads. Funny - I didn't think it would be you knocking that thread! :p:lol:

There are 2.3 million prisoners in the US, many for petty matters. California, for example, has 150 000 prisoners, but cell-space for only 84 000. Prisoners are triple bunked, housed in gymnasia, and so on. California is considering an amnesty. They are not all "murderers" and other "hardened" criminals.
PS
75% of the US population is Christian. 75% of prisoners are Christian.

Did you even look at the picture I started this thread with?

I doubt god takes religion as seriously as most of the religious do. I fact, he probably thinks that most of the beliefs about him are a riot. He probably sits up in a heavenly pub with St. Peter and has a good laugh on a daily basis over a pint of stout.

You're probably right...the way I heard it, when Gawd created man she was only joking! ;-)

Quite right, Cliffy, but I would make one modification. God and Devil need each other. If there was no Devil, who is going to make God look good? Similarly, if there was no God, who is Lucifer going to rebel against?

So my theory is that God and Devil are good friends. In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if God and Devil sit in that heavenly pub of yours together at the end of the say, swapping stories over a pint of beer.

Thus, I can well imagine Devil asking God over a pint “Do you mind if I test Job, see how strong his faith is in you?” To which God replies “Sure, go ahead.”

Or if God and Devil are both female, the conservation could go something like this, over a glass of white wine.

“How was your day, dear?”

“Oh, I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, brought down plague on a whole bunch of people, brought down fire, pestilence over others. Nothing much, same O same O. That will teach those horrid humans not to worship me. How was your day?”

“Oh nothing much happening with me either. Gave plague to a bunch of people, brought down fire, pestilence over others (incidentally, thanks for the new flame thrower dear, it really lights the place up). By the way, that Job is getting quite rude and obnoxious. Do you mind if I teach him a lesson?”

“Sure, by all means, take him down a peg or two. Say, I like that black lipstick you are wearing, could I have some?”

If there were gods that actually cared about this planet and its goings on, most of the goings on wouldn't go on. THAT is the best argument for there NOT being gods, leprechauns, and elves.

:-?

I know there are no gods, probably not leprechauns or elves either but I know for a fact there are little people running around our property and borrowing various items for a while and then returning them to various places in the house. Like my fencing pliers that disappeared last fall and on wed. my wife found them on the boot rack that we both use daily. Or the ring I had made for her that she swears she lost in the potato patch in Sept. recently showed up between the hearth and carpet when I vacuumed.

Did you start this thread? No - I didn't look at the picture. I think God drinks wine (or grape juice). I think you guys are getting way too carried away here. I've talked to all 3 of you for in excess of 2 yrs. (well - a tad less for you Cliff) and all of you can have a little fun but I can't? :smilebox:

Oops - I lied. I did look at the beginning of this thread today and since you took away your beautiful avatar, I did not realize it was you beside the red X and the "non-existant" picture. Don't think I'm gonna be able to view that one.

IP: I think if you claim to be then you are. But claiming to be christian and acting like one are not the same. Eg: The priests that ran the residential schools all claim to be christian but one would never know it by their actions.
