Well - you enjoy. I wish I liked it - just don't. Cognac or diet coke - I'll go for the coke. My husband will take both your cognac and Spade's beer (and Cliff's)and he'll tip a glass of wine with God. Our rather religious son will sit beside his Dad and match him drink for drink and our eldest will sit half way in between them and me having the cognac.:smile:Certainly, Islandpacific, the best cognac money can buy.
Understandable, but I wouldn't credit "the" Jesus with saying anything. I still have not seen definitive proof that there ever was such a critter. And it has been said that even myths have a little truth to them. Besides, rattling off a few lines involving words like "love", "compassion", etc. can actually impress people with the illusion of employing a little wisdom. Scam artists do that all the time.Well said, Gilbert. Christianity and anti-Christianity are two sides of the same coin. If you are ranting and raving against Jesus, you are playing the game of religionists, they on God’s side, you against God.
I don’t consider myself anti-Christian, but an Atheist. I don’t hate God, I regard God the same way as I regard Santa Claus, Easter Bunny or the Great Pumpkin (a la Charlie Brown), with a sort of amused tolerance, amused contempt.
Besides, Jesus said many things that make sense (love thy neighbour etc). You won’t see me badmouthing Jesus. His rabid religious right followers, now that is a different story. They disregard anything Jesus said about love, compassion, caring etc. and interpret his message purely in terms of hate, bigotry, prejudice (prejudice against gays, against women, against liberals, against environment etc.).
Um, atheists are areligious for the most part. That's more-or-less just semantic, though. But, I would suggest that most atheists, including myself are simply waiting for a RATIONAL reason for believing in gods, goblins, and gremlins, not fighting for people to believe in atheism. lolI don't know who eannasir is so I'll let you tell him. If it shouldn't be here why don't the mods. move it? I'm all for religion and politics being barred from forums in truth. No win battle for everyone and more often then not, all out fights with bad feelings. In religion, those who fight the hardest to win are the aetheists and in politics the losing party seems to yell loudest.
lol And sometimes they are seen and sometimes not. Sometimes only heard and sometimes not.If there were gods that actually cared about this planet and its goings on, most of the goings on wouldn't go on. THAT is the best argument for there NOT being gods, leprechauns, and elves.
:-?
I know there are no gods, probably not leprechauns or elves either but I know for a fact there are little people running around our property and borrowing various items for a while and then returning them to various places in the house. Like my fencing pliers that disappeared last fall and on wed. my wife found them on the boot rack that we both use daily. Or the ring I had made for her that she swears she lost in the potato patch in Sept. recently showed up between the hearth and carpet when I vacuumed.
... or perhaps some fire water ...

Religion isn't the problem, denominations and their leaders and followers are.
Nit picking!
If it wasn't for religion there wouldn't be denominations and preachers who twist things to fill the collection plate. I think, as a species, we outgrew gods a few centuries ago but there are still those who need to be frightened into obeying the rules otherwise their sociopathic tendencies would run amok. :-(
There are people who believe in the Geesus myth who just try to live good lives without having to be involved in Churchianity. Those people are usually pretty decent folk. But the Churchianity crowd are sheep begging to be fleeced. They are the ones who are easily manipulated into shooting abortion doctors ank "Killing for Krist".8O
I was talking about basic religion Cliff, like the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule and kindness and generosity shown by Christ- there's nothing wrong with any of that stuff, it's people who are holier than thou who think everyone besides them and their followers are going to Hell.
