The 2010 Winter Olympics are still a year away and I am already sick of them! The TV news, newspapers, radio, etc. seem to mention it constantly. And then we had the one-year to-do. Woop-de-doo! So what?! Are we now going to get a daily countdown? 364 days to go, 363 days to go, 362 days to go, etc.

Anybody else in these forums in BC and had enough already of these Olympics talks? Surely there is more going on in the world than just the 2010 Winter Olympics--which are still a year in the future! Didn't some satellites collide? Didn't Canada just start a new space department? Anything else?

Besides, I am not planning to attend any Olympic-related event. Nor is anybody I know personally. It is just a huge circus we plan to avoid.

Nope, didn't you get the memo? All other worldly event will remain static until after the 2010 Olympics are finished. I mean, didn't you wonder why nothing has changed with the war in iraq, the economy, or Donald Trumps hair! Don't worry, it is only one more year!

I went to one of the 1 year countdown rallies yesterday and came away quite pumped. If the weather cooperates the world will be blown away by these Olympics. It's something we should be proud of. We spend enough time talking about Obama, Israel, steroids and everything else we Canadians probably shouldn't give a rats ass about. Why not talk about us for a change.

Its a bit of a Canadian schism, an inferiority complex. Probably comes from being a midget living next to a giant (The US of Aggression). We are a quiet, unassuming people who get nervous around a lot of self aggrandizement.

Other than for the reason we have to pay for this giant waste of money. I would hope the bloody event failred entirely. I was sick of the cost the greed and the
hype right from the start and it is worse with every passing day

I think there should be dedicated stations/channels for those who want to listen/watch all the hoopla for the next year and any mention of it should be banned from other radio and T.V. stations. Quite frankly I was sick of the whole charade about 3 days after they were awarded to Whistler.

Which part are you tired of? The best thing that has happened to BC since Expo, or the Dippers(whose glorious leader started the bid) constant complaining?
I am looking forward to it, or at least parts like the skiing and snow boarding. Will watch it on TV unless I get paid to go there to do first aid.
Some of our friends from Europe were asking if it is feasible to stay on the island and do day trips to various events.
