Greatest Generals -

Gaius Marius and his protégé Sulla are not on the list but would make some on you list mere piker’s when compared, as such they have been removed – I think that you should have put some thought to this listing before posting it – Hopefully it is not reflective of your real work.

Perhaps you should refine your listing. Julius Caesar reaped the rewards of the drastic changes made by Gaius Marius.

And please putting Napoleon ahead of Caesar – Really poor choice – unless it is you informed opinion – then again go and read your history again.

What's the definition of "General" you are using? If you are using it to define a military officer, I don't think Adolf Hitler was a General. I know he was the German equivalent to a Lance Corporal at the end of WWI. He may have given himself the title of General after he came to power but the mistakes he made as the Fuhrer hardly qualifies him as a great general.

If you include Hitler – A leader – Correct rank is Corporal – but then again Napoleon started off as a corporal – Then Queen Elizabeth 1 – When she died the Brits had an empire that would go on to where that saying is quite appropriate – The sun never set upon the British Empire.

Alexander the Great was from Macedon not Persia. I doubt this person is studying at a university.

Do not doubt – that is what they turn out as a product for the last 20 or so years –

Alexander the Great and Ghengis Khan.........and one guy you are missing: Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington........who outclassed some of Napolean's best Marshalls on the Iberian Peninsula, and then capped it by defeating Napolean himself at Waterloo.....

Neither Dwight Eisenhower nor George Washington belong on the list, nor does Adolph Hitler.......Hitler depended on the tactics of guys like Rommel. Eisenhower was leader simply because of his great (and badly needed) diplomatic skills, both Patton, and certainly MacArthur were better tacticians....

One more thing, that should be Alexander the Great of Macedonia........
