Calgary lost again today(I do believe they are winless in the month of February), so that will help Vancouver.

Also, Vancouver is ahead 3-0 at the end of the first period. Sundin has another goal and an assist. Kesler got a goal and assist as well, and Demitra got an assist. It looks like that line may be a keeper.

Toronto also won tonight over Montreal(5-2). They played a heck of a lot better than they did against Buffalo the other night.

Speaking of Buffalo, Vanek took a puck in the face from a slapshot on the blueline. I hope it's nothing serious.8O

Holy smokes! Vancouver kicked Chicago's butt tonight! The final was 7-3. Sundin had a goal and two assists. Maybe he is finally started to hit his stride?

OK, they did it, came out flying took chicago right off of their game with a very
fast goal, and didn't look back.
Chicago seemed a bit off of their game, a step behind, but managed to have a
rally in the third, until kesler took advantage of their defenceman having a very
untimely fall, and scored.
Good game for sundin, he looked strong out their, and will get stronger, I'm very
glad we have him.
Canucks leave now for St. Louis, who they play on Monday.

Keanan did the stick thing this week. You can set your watch to this guy. Next will be the challenging of Iginla etal by being a complete a-hole.

Canucks caught Chicago on the right night. Hope they can build on it for this road swing.

Keenan broke his stick in anger at the practice the other day, 'would the real
mike keenan please stand up', I think he just did.

Ol' Mike's always had a bit of an anger-management problem. Hence his nickname, Iron Mike.;-):p:lol:

Hopefully now their fortunes will improve and it was a convincing enough win although Chicago got two unanswered goals, which is still the Canuck's weakness, but HEY YOU CAN'T BE A HERO ALL THE TIME.

Against a team like chicago, I will take the win and run like hell, and not look
back, they are a very fine team, and yes, they are very proud, didn't want to
go through that game against the canucks and be shut out, they put on a strong
push in the third period, very typical of how they play 'all' the time, I wouldn't
call it a canuck weakness.
They got a lucky short handed goal from a pass that was in the air and bounced
off of bieksa, and gave them the breakaway, but our shorthanded goal was
just as lucky, but that is hockey.

I hope the Canucks learned that if they work hard, they can win games. They let up in the third period but fortunately, they had a six goal lead at the time.

Yes Juan they have to work that hard all the time, but if we worked our hardest
and chicago worked their hardest for 60 minutes, we probably would not come out on the
good side of the game, they are more talented individually than we are, so
the hard work part of the game is important for 'all' the teams, and any team
who lets up, which chicago did in the first two periods won't win, that includes
san jose, detroit, boston and the whole nhl.
I don't think canucks let up in the third, chicago decided to 'play' their game,(and
didn't let us play our game),
the game chicago have played all season, and has been so successful,
fortunately for us, they came on too late in the game.
That expression 'outwork the other team' is used by all the coaches, and is
the heart and soul of hockey.
When a team is ahead late in the game 6-0, it is human nature 'not' to
keep pushing for goals, but play more defensive, then chicago's short handed goal
got them going, gave them some emotion and lift.
When we don't do well, it's not 'always' because we aren't playing our hardest, it's
often because the other team is just playing better, and visa versa.
Eg. we played better in the game we lost to minnesota than we did in the game we
won against carolina, the process doesn't always dictate the outcome.

I coached hockey for many years and what I saw, was the Canucks hitting, and winning battles for the puck along the boards, and generally outworking Chicago. You are right about the 6-0 lead not being a motivator in the third. Did you notice that Sundin was on the ice for almost all the Canuck's goals and he wasn't on the ice for any of the goals against.

Yes, I did notice that about sundin, he is improving leaps and bounds now.
This is a good note now, for them to go on their road trip, their confidence
has risen substantially, no more hesitating and worrying about making a mistake.
Canucks were very strong on the puck, gave each other lots of puck support,
and played a good physical game.
I'm sure they won't win every game while away, but should do well.
Dallas is playing super hockey right now, they just beat rangers two days ago
10-2, and since averys departure, their game has gotton better and better, and
St. Louis has improved lately as well, phoenix isn't playing well at all, 6 losses
in a row, and they are sliding, I hope they remember that when we arrive there
on thursday.
We come back home and play montreal at home on Sunday, never know what
they are going to do, they are inconsistent, then we go to Calgary,
and they have lost four in a row now, so don't know what to think about them
right now, they are leaving for a road trip too, so I will watch and see how
they play during that stint.
Then we leave again and go back east to Ottawa, toronto and montreal, at least
I think it is that order, not totally sure.
Yeah, we have been involved in hockey since very young, my husband played
for years, then coached for many years, and I helped him, in minor hockey.

Pat Quin used to have a saying that he used to describe talented players who were having trouble getting their game together. He used to say the player was emotionally squeezing the juice out of his stick. I think that saying could have applied to several Vancouver Canucks who seem to have solved some of their problems.

Wasn't it fun getting up at 5:00 am to go to hockey practice and lacing up eighteen pairs of skates....I coached right up to Junior B but I liked the Atoms and PeeWees the best because you could still teach them something. When they reached the higher levels they thought they knew everything.

I watched my husband play junior hockey, then men's hockey for years before
we were married, then when our kids were old enough we got them started,
all girls, but they played with the boys, and yes, getting up that early was
very forgettable, but we had so much fun, and the kids became very very good
players, and also played in a girls league, and my oldest daughter competed in
the women's canadian championships back east.
They were coached just like the boys no girlie soft stuff at all, good tough
hockey, and they were very competetive.

canucks in st. louis at 5:30 today

both teams playing very well of late, yes, st. louis is at the bottom of our conference,
but don't let that fool you, because they, and other teams in their position as well, are
playing good hockey right now, and canucks will have to play their best to beat them.

that term 'they should beat st. louis' doesn't apply, they are just as good as vancouver,
and better over the 'recent past', so canucks won't have it easy, they must play
their best, or better.
Don't let the point standings fool you, any team can beat any team in this league.
Los angelos, (who are playing top hockey right now) went into washington and won,
then went to new jersy and won, recently, looks like they finally found a top goalie,
which has been their downfall over the last few years.

canucks gutted out a win tonight, with their goalie playing 'average', and not such
a good first period for the team. They were better in the second and toughed it out in the
third, they scored 4 goals in the last period, good for them, it's a big win in the first game of their road trip, and a
very dissapointing loss for st. louis, as it was just as important for them to win
this game as it was for the canucks.
Now they are off to phoenix on thursday.
Burrows looked just fine with the twins, although I don't think he should be there
full time, hopefully gillis can find a player before trade deadline to play on that
line.
Pyatt looked terrible tonight.
Sundin is starting to show everyone 'who' he is, I have never doubted him, as I
watched him score over 30 goals in toronto last year on a poor team.
I can just hear that crowd in toronto next week when we go there, they will
boo sundin till the roof comes down, but he will tune them out, and I hope that
he scores a hat trick while there, that will shut them up.

Yep, they seem to be getting back on track and it was only a week ago they were talking nonsense about firing the coach. Every team has bad spells.
