Just for fun! ...

Due to all the recent uncertainty in the world, the supreme court of Canada has just annulled the recent federal election results. They've concluded that none of the political parties can be trusted, and only the smart, good looking members of Canadian Content are allowed to run in an upcoming election.

What would your party platform's THREE main points be? Remember, try not to invoke too drastic of changes, for the people of Canada may not elect you.

AND...even though we are not a republic, what other CC member would be your running mate, and WHY?

Here's mine:

1) If elected, we will pass into law ruling all supreme court of Canada judges, AND all canadian senators are subject to ELECTIONS, effective immediately. Even more campaigns! FUN! :roll:

2) If elected, we will have a national review of our justice system. We will increase jail sentences for career criminals, and take away privileges from all federal correction facilities. Mainly things like asswipe and fresh air, okay, maybe not so drastic, but you get the point.

3) If elected, all tax payers will get a tax-free, one time cheque of ten thousand dollars.;-) As part of an economic stimulus package.;-) Please don't reply: "How you gonna pay for that?" We all know there's a lot waste we could cut!

As far as my running mate, there are so many good candidates, but I would have to pick Colpy. From what I've read, I most closely identify with him in political views, and beliefs.

I'm going to ignore those parts about being smart, good looking, and not making any drastic changes - I'm neither, and drastic is my style.

Let's start, fittingly, with the Electoral Process.

I won't go into a lengthy rant about how many people have died to bring the civilized world to where it is today politically and how the core force driving all that effort and our collective happiness is our right to vote, but suffice it to say I feel very strongly that to not vote is to dishonour that effort. As such, the first part of my Electoral Reform Bill would create mandatory voting for all citizens. The remainder of the bill would facilitate other changes throughout the electoral process in order to make mandatory voting feasible and valuable: tiered or "knockout" voting structure; online voting; abolishment of monetary campaign donations; creation and regulation of federally funded campaigning; stricter moderation, and increased number of, public campaign debates.

Next, the Judicial System.

"As long as you live under my roof, you will follow my rules." I'm sure most of us grew up hearing this, or something like it, from our fathers - or in my case, my mother - this is the underlying philosophy of my proposed three-tier system for punishment:

1. First-time offenders, misdemeanors, punks. You will all be tried as adults. All punishments will include jail-time, fines, and community service. There is no such thing as "good behaviour". This is your one and only chance at mercy.
2. Repeat offenders, more serious crimes. See the above, except that bit about mercy. In addition to your sentence, you will also serve a mandatory term in our armed forces where you will learn order, discipline, pain, and to read/write/speak english fluently. When we spit you out, you will either be an upstanding citizen ready to be a hero for your fellow countrymen, or you will return as a Tier-3 offender.
3. Murderers, rapists, and violent/multiple offenders. You have shown that you no longer wish to live under our roof, nor our rules; as such, you are no longer entitled to the amenities which our roof and rules afford it's residents. Currently you live out your years in our prisons, reading books, playing games, getting degrees, and generally costing the rest of us money while giving nothing in return. Going forward, you will be provided only the basic requirements to live; your citizenship, and the rights that accompany it, are hereby revoked. You will eat, work, stare at your cell bars, and sleep. When you die, your major healthy organs will immediately be donated as needed, and every last useable ounce of your body will be given to science. Your existence will finally provide some usefulness to the rest of the world.

Finally, the Welfare System.

I am proud to live in a country where we attempt to provide a minimum standard of living for all. That said, the current system passively promotes laziness and is far too open to abuse. Restrictions and qualifications for recipients will become much more stringent, as will the pursuit and prosecution of abuse. Existing recipients will no longer receive monthly support; instead, they will receive a one-time payment equivalent to one-year's suppot at their current amount. A year from now they will come up for review to determine if they still need support, and whether they re-qualify. Re-qualification will depend heavily on what the recipient has done with their last payment, and what steps they have taken to better themselves or their ability to support themselves.

As for my running mate, I would be honoured (but surprised) if scratch would support my campaign.

1. The simplification of our tax system. With no right to tax a tax or use a differing name such as levy to hide a fee for services. Basically a straight forward income and integrated consumer tax system so it is seamless.

2. Leave the provinces' business to them.
3. introduce a more fair electoral system. ( Single transferable vote or something other than fptp)
