Sympathy votes was the reasoning for DB saying Obama's people would be ecstatic, the evidence for the premise. GerryH said DB was heartless. You responded that DB was right.

DB - I just flat out don't believe you.
Statements like the one I just quoted - they have no place in a thread about a man's dead grandmother. He's commented many many times about this woman and the great impact she had upon his life, his belief system. This is undoubtedly a huge blow for him - you may have beliefs about this man's suitability to hold office - but that doesn't justify using his loss to try and illustrate your point - your ends don't justify your means.
I doubt there's anyone in the world you could say that comment about - everyone - yes, DB, everyone cares about someone or something. Even you.
I totally agree with d.b.'s comment.
Yet the underlying wish is unattainable.
For the world has split into two: Us and Them.
This is not to say that we are unaware of their plight.
But unfortunately We are not in a position to help Them.
In a world of `Breaking News` being flashed on our screens, We focus on what is of concern to Us.
I do not condone this attitude but reality bites.
If We went back fifty years would the situation be all that different, no.
Then it was still a case of : Us and Them
Right here and now we are facing that which our generation has not faced before - survival.
Because of that Them are not on our minds but Us.
I can only see our future as apocalyptic.

This person is more to him than a grandmother. She raised him when his mother passed away. She is basically his mom. He is her son. He is one day away from one of the most remarkable accomplishments of our time. That accomplishment is also her's. She could've written the text book for raising kids. The one she raised is like no one I've seen before.
Curiosity: Why are so many children of `colour` raised by their Grandmothers or Grandparents in the United States?

So how much humane consideration do you allow for the tragic life of Adolph Hitler or Joe Stalin or Clifford Olsen? There is a point on the scale of humane consideration for the other beyond which you may not safely go. There are also no rewards in life for mistaking the rabid dog for a puppy. He is not human enough for me to extend humane consideration for him.
365 to 1, I have 364 reasons, at least, to doubt what I'm asked to believe.
My lack of consideration for Mr Obama shocks some but they do not percieve the situation and his role in it in the same way that I do. Evil is completely immune to humane treatment and one who extends the humane to evil is lost to that evil sooner or later.
Maybe the parents aren't able to raise the kids, maybe they are drug addicts or in jail...
