I believe you mean the Quiet Revolution.........which had absolutely nothing to do with insurrection. In fact you (and I) would have approved mightily......The Quiet Revolution was the movement of Quebec society away from the fascism of premier Duplessis to the socially-concious modern entity it is today. It was the movement of Quebec from a rigidly Catholic, extremely right-wing, zenophobic character to one open to the world, with a safety net, free speech,.....a dawn of liberty, if you will. It is generally accepted to have spanned the time of Premier Jean Lesage, 1960 to 1966.
Nothing to do with violence.

But Trudeau could be even more of a tyrant.....compare.....the Patriot Act in response to 3,000 deaths (Bush) and full martial law in response to.....0 (that's nil, ziltch, none, nada) deaths........who is the greater despot?????

When did the dissent really get started, Colpy? There was no sudden decision ... no trigger. Maybe that's what got you confused. It started heating the first time someone realized Quebec's power within the dominion was waning and started to boil as Quebec started getting a taste of renewed power. Maybe if you'd realize you don't really know it all, you might be enabled to learn.

Yes, there was some "revolutionary acts" in Quebec before the October crisis. A couple of mailboxes were blown up. I believe a man was killed in one blast.......but these were not the reason martial law was declared........fact is "dissent" was closer to the reason....PET was a goose-stepping despot.
No ... the reasons martial law were declared were the kidnapping of Pierre LaPorte and James Cross - and every indication things were going to escalate. Well I do pay taxes not only for my home but also for what I earn here in China . There are also other ways that I contribute to my country but I will not go int details.
