-Fed gov is in Ont and I contribute to it's welfare
-continue to support the auto industry thr loans
-provide transfere payments due to incompetent management of the province.

socialists. I for one do not support handing out money to off shore companies such as Toyota.
I have enough trouble when its the big three. Toyota puts a Canada behind its name and then
pretends to be Canadian. Oh and thanks for making the point about Toyota not being a union
shop, means I would never even consider buying one.

get into another round of bailouts. This is not going away people, Harper did not save the

Small correction.... Federal government (Con) is matching the $71 million Ontario (Lib) grant with a loan
This is the new socialism - actually it isn't all that new having been around for several decades. Shell out billions in subsidies, deferred taxes, and outright tax breaks to transnational corporations while cutting back basic infrastructure and social program spending. The last I noticed was that Toyota had enough cash on hand to buy GM outright. Such spending is always justified in terms of job creation, improving the environment, or some other trumped up excuse.
The problem is government rarely takes a look at whether or not such spending is actually cost effective in terms of achieving its goals. The only study I am actually aware of was one conducted by Erik Nielsen (a PC cabinet minister in the 1980s) who showed that the various federal government tax incentives and subsidies robbed the government of billions (in 1980s dollars) and led to very little in the way of benefits. The report was quickly shelved and forgotten.
There are not studies that I am aware of showing whether or not similar provincial plans are any more effective, but I suspect they are probably similar taxpayer boondoggles.

These plants have a broken business model and they should be allowed to die a natural death.
Just imagine, these plants can't get funding from;
- the banks
-private business investment
- not even the Parent Toyota company will put money into these sick broken down pigs
But, oh, no, our great federal Government comes up with a WELFARE cheque to revive this sick pig.
