Half right. It is currently a fringe movement but it does have a lot of support. Oddly that support crosses political lines. Probably because of the near universal loathing of turdOWE.
Its bigger than you think. Watch what happens in upcoming Provincal elections.

If Central Canadian news outlets are running articles mentioning WEXIT with nothing to see here then you know they are concerned over it.

So getting back to the OP any bets on how much it will cost the overall economy to subsidize 3 billion worth of electric cars in OntariOWE?

Good news with Ford agreeing to a new three year collective agreement and committing to electric vehicles for Oakville. Union calling it a decades long commitment.

Tax breaks involved no doubt but 3400 jobs as well.

Great, now all we need is a large team of unicorns to hitch up to the treadmill to generate that environmentally friendly and economically sustainable electricity for this new fleet. Or do some of those 3,400 jobs include the nuclear technicians they'll need to sustain and operate Ontrario's busy nuclear facilities?

Also, at 3 miles of range per hour of charging, I suspect they won't need many rural charge stations.

Are taxpayer subsidized industries really worth having?

I’ve heard that the federal and Ontario provincial governments with Unifor somehow in the mix have agreed to hand FORD 1/2 a Billion dollars today to upgrade a plant somewhere in Ontario so it can start pushing out electric cars. I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere but the percentage of actual cars on the road out here Hass to be less than one in five I’m assuming. It’s either trucks or SUVs for about 80% of traffic if not more. Maybe it’s different elsewhere....

The only "car" Ford makes any longer is the Mustang. Everything else is an SUV or truck.

Unifor had to take it on the chin. With low profits they cant ask for crazy raises.

The leaked news of the Trudeau Liberals being willing to put up to $500 million into the Ford assembly plant in Oakville is simply step one. More here: http://torontosun.com/opinion/colum...evving-up-efforts-to-build-electric-cars-here

In North America the Ford Car is the Mustang, but who know what platform the Electric cars will be based upon? Maybe European models to make them small to make them have a range on battery power?
