No. I'd say...

"Hey... are you following me for something?"

I doubt the response would be gunfire if handled that way. But what do I know.

I wouldn't start swinging for no reason. Nor would you. Let's be real.

You don't know what Martin said or did. Nor do I. All of that is based on Zimmerman's testimony, because Martin can't give his side.

I just pulled this down from the net. I don't know if it is accurate as far as movements etc.

I'll leave it to cm to refute it since he said Martin was 'mere steps' from home.

But, it also doesn't look like Martin doubled back on his path to lie in wait like you said. It looks like the direct walking path route home

I've put facts in my posts earlier and so did Colpy and a few others, but people keep inserting opinions or other opinions that people have posted on line and declaring them as facts...There is nothing to do but roll my eyes when common sense is missing in some posts, and feely touchy feelings get in the way of reason.

That's the biggest problem with individuals trying to discuss this settled case.

Hearsay... they said, a lot of people, I heard, according to...blah blah blah...look it up and read. But to dismiss out of hand without any effort...man oh man. This thread alone had a ton of links as you said. They were also laid out just after it went down.

Here's one helpful link that ES found the map at:

You aren't a 17 year-old who probably thinks himself to be a tough guy.

EXCELLENT POINT! Excellent LG.

It was a volatile mix between those two that night wasn't it?

I tell you what... I would not want to fight that infant.

But, it also doesn't look like Martin doubled back on his path to lie in wait like you said. It looks like the direct walking path route home

Like I said... I do not know the accuracy of the pathways or whose map this is. This could be a prosecution map or just a map someone made. As you can tell it says "assumed paths"... non?

But it DOES show the distance from the shooting to Martin's Dad's house. Which is why I posted the map.

Thank you for your concern. ;)

Oh...btw... Zimmerman said he doubled back first... I was just repeating his testimony.

Again... thanks. ;)

Ditto. In fact, I have no wish to fight anyone with violence.

And this means what? What was Martin's intent? Was it to ask why Zimmerman had been following him? Or to give Zimmerman a hug? To shoot him? To go back and pick something up that he might have dropped?
Is there evidence for anything of that nature?

Houston: Trayvon Martin Protesters Beat Grandmother Trying To Rush Child To The Hospital…

How delightful.
HOUSTON – Hundreds of people marched in protest to the George Zimmerman verdict on Monday.

“No justice, no peace,” they yelled as they walked from the Byrd Funeral Home in the 2500 block of Wheeler to the Southmore Street overpass bridge near Highway 288.

Just after 7p.m. Monday, the demonstrators spilled out onto the road and blocked traffic for about 15 minutes.

“I looked up and I see all the protesters, they’re everywhere,” said Georgia, who asked that her last name not be used. “So, we got into the traffic and they’re stopping us and not letting us go.”

Georgia was on her way to Texas Children’s Hospital in the Medical Center because her 7-year-old granddaughter was having an allergic reaction to some medication.

Georgia’s daughter was driving and tried to go around the demonstrators by driving on the grassy shoulder.

“One of them was hitting the windshield and I was just screaming, ‘We’ve got to get to the hospital,’ and they were screaming and chanting,” she said. “All I could think of was, I got to get my granddaughter to the hospital.”

“My mom rolled down the window,” said Georgia’s daughter. “She said, ‘We’re trying to get my granddaughter to the hospital,’ and a guy just started hitting her.”

A Local 2 camera covering the protest recorded the entire incident. On the video you could see Georgia sitting in the front seat of an SUV, she had her window down and you can see a man reach in and grab her. Georgia said she was hit.

Oh, well then he totally must have been justified in shooting him, hey Loc?

I gotta say, the media's doing a great job of making it an 'us v them' issue, and some people are just buying it hook line and sinker.

Lunatics. I think I mentioned somewhere the inability of some people to discern where and when to be emotional and where and when to use good sense. Pedomorphism at its best.

Wow... I watched the video, and while I don't excuse shutting down roadways in protest, or grabbing at people, I really don't see her being 'hit' at all. He grabbed at her, along the door, and she says 'he started hitting her'.... what you see in the video and what she describes are worlds apart.

lol Someone going to shoot me every time I double back from my way into town because I forgot something? Yipes! Oh, wait, this is rural BC, not FL.

Us vs. them is often just a mentality in which people often lose sight of just who "we" and "they" are. But if you listen, people will tell you, even if they aren't consciously aware of it themselves.

Rachel Jeantel Says She Thinks Trayvon Threw The First Punch…

In other words, Zimmerman was defending himself.

Via HuffPo:
Trayvon Martin’s friend and George Zimmerman trial witness, Rachel Jeantel recently sat down with HuffPost Live’s Marc Lamont Hill during a candid interview to discuss her perception on the confrontation between the former neighborhood watchman and the late 17-year-old.

One of the key points of contention between the prosecution and defense during the trial of Zimmerman, who was acquitted of second-degree murder after killing the unarmed teen, was the question of who initiated the physical confrontation between the two.

Jeantel expounded on her thoughts on what occurred when Zimmerman and Martin met face to face. “I believe Trayvon hit first,” she said. She went on to describe how she believed that Trayvon throwing the first punch was likely caused by Zimmerman attempting to grab and detain Martin.

White female. Man grabs and attempts to 'detain' her without identifying why, or who he is. She hits him. Is she now guilty of assault?

Hell no.

As Les pointed out, stalking is the crime that occurred first, and hitting the stalker who tries to physically detain you, is self defense.

Well, all I can say is it's a good thing that horrible, dangerous Trayvon Martin isn't out on the streets still victimising innocent people.

George Zimmerman should get a medal.

A stalking crime now?!

Florida's laws concerning stalking are fairly similar to the laws the RCMP enforces. This is directly from the RCMP's website: "Criminal harassment, more commonly known as STALKING, is a crime. Generally it consists of repeated conduct that is carried out over a period of time and which causes you to reasonably fear for your safety or the safety of someone known to you. Stalking does not have to result in physical injury in order to make it a crime. The law protects you even if the conduct of the stalker is not done with the intent to scare you. It is enough if the conduct does scare you. This may be an advance warning of the possibility of future violent acts."

.

Which is the intent of the law.

I'm pretty sure you can follow along.

If it's not okay to do one citizen, it's not okay to do to another. Following someone home and physically detaining them is threatening, regardless of gender. So if it isn't okay to do to a woman, it's not okay to do to a 17 year old kid. What Zimmerman did put Martin into self defense mode

Which is the intent of the law.

'generally'. You know darn well if Zimmerman had followed a woman around like this at night and grabbed her without identifying himself, no one would defend him. Stalking wouldn't be argued.
