Another Obama-Funded “Green” Energy Company Bites The Dust: Amonix Solar Closes After Receiving $15.6 Million DOE Grant…

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before . . .
Via LVRJ:
The Amonix solar manufacturing plant in North Las Vegas, heavily financed under an Obama administration energy initiative, has closed its 214,000-square-foot facility 14 months after it opened.

Officials at Amonix headquarters in Seal Beach, Calif., have not responded to repeated calls for comment this week. The company today began selling equipment, from automated tooling systems to robotic welding cells.

A designer and manufacturer of concentrated photovoltaic solar power systems, Amonix received $6 million in federal tax credits and a $15.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to build the plant in North Las Vegas.

Have no fears, someone will be along shortly to explain how this is a lot to do about nothing.

The whole green manufacturing and implementation process is not
about the environment its about the money. New technology gets
people fired up, and they all trot out to purchase the new idea and
later they ask Why Doesn't it Work?
This Concept is not change for the better, its change for profit and
the only thing green is the profit. The green environmental ideology
is a new religion and nothing more. Most of it is based on belief
and some science just to get you interested.

Don't you know...most of these squanderings of taxpayer money were statistically anticipated or expected to fall within the allowable set of fail parameters.

All that entitlement talk gives me a boner man.

I'll have you know that this is a complicated situation with many different angles and just because you aren't as smart as us environmentalists doesn't mean that we are wrong or you are or um uhhhh ahem

nevermind...

And some folks 'round these parts say you don't do that. ;)

There is a difference between having a discussion among adults and trying to educate mental midgets.

I spent a lot of years as a contractor and I still don't grasp the concept of acceptable losses or going into a project knowing it will be at a loss. Bad enough when it happens accidently.

You mean like someone so perpetually buggered, they can't recognize the difference between a thread that's an attack on the graft and waste of the Obama admin, and an attack on solar power?

That kind of mental midgetry?

That would be one that comes to mind. The same suspects have difficulty grasping most concepts if they didn't read it first in a far left blog.

Oh, and Locutus, the $15.6 million loan was actually given in 2007....that's a Bush Administration grant.

As you were.

Yep, R&D back in the pre-stimulus day followed by 6 mil in tax credits and a glowing endorsement from the glorious leader in 2010:

In July 2010, President Barack Obama talked up the Amonix plant during a Nevada visit to support Reid's re-election, saying tax credits for the plant provided by federal economic stimulus efforts had already made an "extraordinary impact."

"Now, the only problem we have is these credits were working so well, there aren't enough tax credits to go around,'' Obama said in a speech at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

"There are more worthy projects than there are tax credits. When we announced the program last year, it was such a success we received 500 applications requesting over $8 billion in tax credits, but we only had $2.3 billion to invest. In other words, we had almost four times as many worthy requests as we had tax credits."

It's still green-stimulus failure.

Carry-on.
