American isolationism was a contributing cause to the start of WWII. After WWI the US wasn't interested in further entanglement in the world other than ordinary trade. That's one of the reasons America never joined the League of Nations.

There was no publicly declared institution "The World Bank" at that time but there certainly was world dominating central banks. My point being the difference is nil.

The US is staying out of War- far away- Why should the US always be the one that countries turn to when in need.
Even today the US pays 75% of the costs of NATO- Why because the EU cannot get the collective a-s-s together- Time for the US to reduce that cost.
Use those funds where they are needed. In Asia.
I'm a neo-isolationist. I don't support the American alliance system. The sooner it ends the better. Even Canada needs to take care of its own defense.
The world is splitting into economic and resource power blocs.
SEATO should include NATO as full partners and include India, Japan, Vietnam and such.

All NATO nations will bite the dust to some degree, that's what happens when you back a loser in a war.
