Desalination? That's about as green as letting temperatures skyrocket by not watering and using AC that depletes hydro reservoirs.

You'd almost think they want it to be hotter than necessary for some bizarre reason.

People who maintain lawns, at any time, should not be allowed to vote. Lawn mowers have ruined my evenings for decades. When I have to endure having my summer evenings ruined by some lawn slave operating his goddamned John Deer lawn shaver well into the beautiful summer evenings to trim his or her couple of hundred square feet of trendy dead usless green carpet it makes me think of what Adolph would have done with the unproductive destroyers of what should have been tranquill time before sundown. You keep a lawn, you ain't my friend. Weeds right up to the front door or death. That's my position. All you westerners will be victims of nucleaotides anyway. An unfortunate solution but a solution nontheless.

Must be nice living on an island . Water water every where but not a drop to drink .

still drinking my share of water every day, and its not salt, but I love the salt water for swimming
over fresh any day, just had my dogs out to the ocean last night.

we have our very own glacier, its like a big tap full of cold fresh water, well, at least till global
warming makes it disappear.

I would think being the only green one on the block would be the only hint needed.

actually that isn't true, many people stop watering their lawns very early on, when there are no restrictions
on watering, but we don't do that, we follow the rules and we can keep our lawn green until stage #3,
is put into effect, and even then if we keep our lawn fairly long, which we do, the bit of rain we do
get does keep it reasonably green, it is slowly browning out, but still 'more' green than 'brown.
so, if anyone whines to me about our lawn being greener than theirs, they can go
suck an egg.

I'm curious to know why?

what, why I like the salt water more for swimming? I don't really know, always have, very
buoyant, beautiful scenery all around, mountains. I like the sand beneath my feet, but
even though I do, when I swim I wear crock type sandals, don't want to step on any crabs etc.

I love seeing thru the very clean clear water to the bottom, and also I like the
salty taste.

lakes are fine, never have liked swimming in any of them, would rather be in a pool.

Have you only swam in the island lakes? Land locked lakes are usually kind of gross. The southern tip of the island has landlocked. I don't know about past the Malahat...

Other than the more bouyant everything you stated can be found in fresh.

yes, some fresh, I've fished in many many lakes, from a boat, enjoyed that,

to each their own.

I also like the tides and the big beaches, I like the walking into the water and slowly
going deeper, don't like water that is instantly deep, I like playing in fairly shallow
water, with the dogs, I like to know exactly how the bottom is, with no surprises.

I like lakes better for training the dogs, instantly deep so they can swim right away.
don't have to rinse them off to make sure the salt is out of their coats, but that
only takes a couple of minutes.

I've always loved the ocean, spent many happy days at crescent and white rock beaches, and
Vancouver beaches, I liked the big pool that was salt water at lumberman's arch I think it
was, also kitsilano, great memories.

Have you only swam in the island lakes? Land locked lakes are usually kind of gross. The southern tip of the island has landlocked. I don't know about past the Malahat...

the island has hundreds of wonderful lakes, comox lake is huge, flows into the puntledge river, and
,
is fed from the glacier, very clean and fresh, we take our dogs training there often.

so many lakes on this island it would take too long to begin naming them, all clean and fresh, nothing
gross, have not seen many lakes that were gross, unless they are man made and don't have any connection
to anything for oxygen, then they become dead water, which becomes dirty water, dangerous heavy water
with no buoyancy at all.

I don't swim in lakes, I swim in the ocean.

I like both but not too fond of the salt if not able to rinse off right away, it can do a number on your balls.

I've never experienced instant drop offs other than off a rock face as expected but the beach are the same, no bigger, no smaller.

If you like bobbing around all lazy like, you'd love this, you can fall asleep while floating around.
