"I consider that today the referee was not at the same level as the participants, the players," FIFA President Sepp Blatter told Portuguese television. "There could have been a yellow card for the referee."

do you agree that referee issued too many cards without reason?

Blatter is an idiot.

FIFA were the ones that gave the directive to issue more bookings. Now that it has become a farce, he's backtracking.

Sepp Blatter, 50 ideas a day, 51 of them bad.

Ok I'm gonna say this as best I can without insulting too many people.............filfthy cheating Italian b#@tards stole our right to make the top 8 or even the top 4!!!

We played DAMN well and the Italians knew it, they were scared, hence the dive! Grosso even admitted to being "desperate" to secure a goal before extra time was played. They didnt think they had a chance against us with one man down and the Socceroos playing as strongly as they were.....so they cheated! Typical.

As a small footballing nation, all we asked for in this competition was a fair chance and respect and, with 4 games ripe with contraversy over the refereeing, I dont think we were given either!

Its a bloody shame. But I'm sure Fifa will be happy with all the big-name countries making the quarters.

to be honest though Glossprincess, as much as I thought the socceroos played some great football, they had about as much chance as the US, namely not much, their squad looked like Middlesborough reserves, not to take anything away from em, but they should and could have sealed it a long time before the pen, it's really their own fault for not taking the chances offered to em on a plate.

what is it Pele says "Wilkommen vos fussbull" welcome to football, the world's most popular game, treat it like a second rate option and see where it gets you

The aussies were the better side. That dive in the penalty area deserved at least a 5.9. It was a terrible way to lose that game.

Firstly: And you are a git.

Secondly: He did some huge mistakes g.e. not sending that bloke off who kicked Ronaldo on his thigh. By booking him, he said that is OK you will only get booked for things like that, so the players knew they could get away with doing rude things, and get away means booked. Of course it was a really hard to refeere and I do not think that the refeere screwed the whole thing up, I just think that his WC is over.

You lot obviously do not really know what Football is about (though many of you think), so therefore if you want to win some money by betting then listen to this bet. It might seem a bit rude, but I would see as a help. Well I have to diffrent bets, the one is what my brain tells me and the other one is what my heart tells me.

The first bet (brain):
Winner: Brazil
Runner up: Germany
3rd Place: Italy
4th Place: England

The second bet (heart)
Winner: England
Runner up: Argentina
3rd place: Brazil
4th place: Italy

We are going to England in Sept. to visit my wife's relatives. Should England win the World Cup, they will be insufferable.

Come on Juan, put urself in my position in Canada, it's Hockey, Hockey, Hockey, 24/7, I honestly couldnt turn the corner without my surname being mentioned, never knowing if I was being talked about.

But as I say, you know people wont stop, just hunker down, bare it and enjoy the charming weather :) lol

I was really only kidding. If England can win the cup, I will gladly put up with my inlaws. They will drag me over to the Lazy Pig and we will toast the English side until they have to carry me home. What could be worse? How about doing it again the next night......and the next....and the next  :p

England now blaming the pitches

Now pitches blamed for England's poor play

Paul Robinson claims the dry German pitches are hurting England's passing game.

Robinson admits the team has not played well during their World Cup campaign and believes the best is yet to come.

The Tottenham goalkeeper said: 'The conditions have made it hard for us.

'I think we are finding the pitches particularly difficult because they are not putting water on them.

'It's slowing our passing game down. We are finding it hard to get a rhythm.'

England overcame Ecuador on Sunday in the first knock-out round to set up a quarter-final clash with Portugal, in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday.

Robinson said: 'I wouldn't say we are particularly pleased with the way we are playing.

'We're getting results and we haven't played as well as we would like to play.

'I think we are finding it very difficult to get our passing game going.

'We got into the last 16 without producing what we know is our best.

'Ecuador, along with the Sweden game, was probably one of the better performances we've had but we still feel there's more to come from the team.

'The players we have got will rise to the occasion.

'We've not lost a game yet, we're through to the last eight. As long as we keep winning that's the important thing.'

The Mirror

A BIT BIASED MY OLD CHINA

DAZZA'S DAILY DIARY

By Darren Lewis, Our Man At Large In Germany

CHINA'S most popular TV commentator is in hot water for his amazingly biased coverage of Italy's 1-0 win over Australia.

Huang Jianxiang, a massive fan of Serie A, stunned millions of viewers when Fabio Grosso went down to win a penalty in the last minute.

Jianxiang screamed: "Penalty! Penalty! Penalty! Grosso's done it, Grosso's done it! The great Italian left-back! He succeeded in the glorious traditions of Italy! [[[cheating when the going gets tough]]] Facchetti, Cabrini and Maldini, their souls are infused in him at this moment!

"Grosso is not fighting alone at this moment! He's not alone!"

Worse was to come when Francesco Totti actually scored the penalty. Huang TAUNTED Australia's Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, whose South Korea side knocked Italy out of the last World Cup.

He added: "Goooooal! Game over! Italy win! Beat the Australians! Hiddink finally reaped fruits which he had sown!"

An unapologetic Huang said later: "I don't like Australians."
